idea for hold breath/focus system

Recommended Posts

okay... I know the developers like to keep this game as realistic as it gets. By that I also mean aiming. And it's a hell... but that's my opinion. Anyways.. I want to discuss the hold breath/focus system of DayZ. I think it's crappy... I've played a lot of 'realistic' games which have way better focus systems. For example: Red Orchestra 2:

In Red Orchestra 2 when you go in 'focus mode' you can hear you character breathing. "Breath in... pause... pause... pause... breath out, breath in... pause... pause... pause... breath out..." and so on!

This way you can better 'plan' your shooting. Especially when sniping. Now your character tries to hold his breath the whole time, turning blue and making the damn scope/sight wobbly as hell.

Anyway.. I hope the developers will make a better focus/hold breath system (like Red Orchestra 2) in this game.

P.S. If I'm the 100th person with this idea... Sorry for the spam!

Heeeeere's the problem with the current system:  Any shooter knows you gently squeeze trigger on exhale; you NEVER hold your breath when shooting.  You even keep both eyes open, even though only one is lining up sights.  This is an aspect of realism that has been ignored for too long in gaming.  Maybe have pulse affect aim; if you were just sprinting, you are jittery but if you have relaxed for a few minutes, your aim is much more accurate?  Instead of some Zen-like meditation....
