Why is development time being poured into more new towns?

Recommended Posts

Without skimming the whole thread I like to think of this, a small exercise in how such a small thing as a single amusement park could help immersion:

You walk into a town, think that famous photo of Pripyat in the zone (posted on the first page, actually) you walk into the area, see the Ferris wheel falling apart, you approach it out of curiosity, a can of beans is inside the lower car, horribly placed another just a torn and destroyed bicycle helmet laying inside, a blood streak leading from the car Ferris wheel car, people talk on global somewhere as you follow the streak to a pair of corpses, one is a cop with no pants, a female zombies body is glitched over him, another cop zombie lunges at you in an awkward animation while running through the ferris wheel, you swing with your bat and run around it, the desync brings a painful wave of nausea to your stomach, you move on, you see a strong man game, broken and in shambles, the hammer snapped in half, and near a body of a man also with no pants, another body nearby of a woman glitched in the fence where she died, the owner of the strong man game draped over her, possibly they both tried to vault the fence at the same time, the broken half of the hammer lies near him, you pull out your soda can to drink while pressing the hotkey 17 times as you stand staring and contemplating this, it begins to rain, your attention is drawn to the bumper cars, the grisly scene is much the same, the aftermath of new spawns punching each other  can clearly be seen here. As you stop to look at the bodies and contemplate what happened, a raider nearby fires 400 shots at you with a hacked m4 and you join the ranks of the dead in this forsaken world that once brought brief happiness to those who were worked to the bone. as you approach the white light you feel......different. You walk to the gates of heaven, you have finally made it, the promise land, the land with no desync!

fixed it for you ^^

The reason we are getting new towns is simply because there are separate parts in the dev team, The mapper isn't going to twidle his thumbs because the code department hasn't done some thing on their agenda, He has a job to do as well, and that is to improve this map, and spread out interest across the span of all the landmass.

Only if we can have rail guns and LGs too then.

I'm all up for railguns.

The Map, buildings, railway , roads, forests, fields, objects, rock formations and finally towns are all part of the development which started just over a year ago for myself (pre-alpha).

Without this "development time  being poured", there would be no game as we know it.

I have changed my playing style since DayZ Mod, mostly due to the changes of the landscape and all that it contains, have you ?

Late last year.

I would assume they have multiple people working on multiple projects, and im sure they all fall on different deadlines.

If the guy in charge of making the towns and terrain and objects gets finished, why the hell not add it to the game, so he can move onto the next project.

Right now...I think the biggest problem is the zombies going through walls. THE biggest problem. Totally ruins the game. I know it's in Alpha but why not focus most of the efforts on that huge problem? The amount of towns right now is good! Maybe one far north, center of the map would be good. But then that's it.

Well, this is dependent on the map being completed first. Rocket or one of the other developers mentioned this in a post.

I've seen some great ideas ... larger hospital complex ... abandoned theme park ... abandoned mall

So where is the thinking from the dev team here? I know they rarely give answers directly to these questions so what is the community view?

I think the dev team are all busy working on the new Special Infected and the banjo melee weapon...
