Injured when going prone

Recommended Posts

What happened:

I went prone (hit Z key) and broke my leg and got massive blood loss. From 10k blood down to 3k.

Where you were:

In an open area but near some tree and a bush.

What you were doing:

I was running, then walked for 3 seconds. Then went prone.

It was slightly down-hill.

*Current installed version:

1.7.1.5

*Server(s) you were on:

DE 10

*Your system specs:

Intel i7 2600K, Asus Nvidia Geforce GTX460, windows 7 x64

*Timeline of events before/after error:

I was running, then walked for 3 seconds. Then went prone.

Broke my leg.

Got massive blood lust.

Took morphine.

Took bandage.

---

Is this an known arma engine issue that might hurt you if you go prone?

I'm quite sure it was no gun shot, I did not hear any gunshot.

One thing that annoy me is that sometimes my character will run like 5-6 steps before going prone. It's very annoying near zombies and happens randomly.

It was not doing it when I got injured though.

I've had several other instances where I would get a broken leg. Climbing down ladders (not dropping), having someone walk over you (Survivors must weigh like 5k pounds), and falling about 3-4 feet off the stairs in barns.

You probably dolphin dove too far and the game engine sucks so it thought you fell to far.

I have no clue why people that don't know anything blame the engine. The engine is extremely efficient in what it does, what other game do you know that run a 225 km^2 map?

It's a problem with the broken bone system used by DayZ, note that ArmA 2 doesn't even have a broken bone system. Most likely you were crushed by something, this will happen if you lay down next to a tree or rock.

This glass bone issue is driving me crazy.

Sure, a broken bone is a serious injury and should hamper you a lot, but atm its just ruining the game in my opinion.

1. It happens WAY to easy.

I got my bone crushed by:

- zombies after they took a head shot when they stumbled forward and dropped (against me)

- crawling through a gap in a wall

- crawling over a doorstep(!)

2. Its way to hard to cure.

Bandages I find in abundance, painkillers are rare but ok, but that morphine? Forget about it.

And to make things worse, the fact that you have to crawl after you broke somethink makes it even more likely you break something again, causing additional bloodloss and pain.

So please, either make it less likely that bones break or spawn more morphine. And fix that breaking bones by crawling over stuff thing, getting my bones broken by a zombie is something I can live with, but atm I consider the doorsteps more dangerous for my bone than the zombies....
