Reth (DayZ) 2 Posted June 26, 2012 After reading a few threads, I came up with a great and realistic idea for a PvP looting system. The IdeaItem rarity will directly correlate to the probability of taking that item off of recently killed or dead players. Essentially, the more common items a player is carrying will have a higher chance of "dropping" while more rare items like weapons and special equipment will have a lower percentage.Making Realistic SenseAfter a player takes 4 to 5 rounds center-mass, it's likely that some of his carried items would be damaged.Pros:-Discourage some types of PvPers-Simulate Realism-Broaden the scope of the game as a whole-Players exert more energy into finding weapons naturally-You DecideCons:-Will piss off some players-No guaranteed transference of power (kill a rival squad, might get their weapons)-Items not dropped will essentially be removed from the game-You decideAlternatives:Just implement a randomizing variable that tells the probability of all items when dropped, eliminating the "rarity" factor and just going for random damage.Discuss. rpatto92@hotmail.com 26 Posted April 1, 2013 Here's a better Idea no probably. If you stop to and need to use more than one hand whilst holding another object, to complete an activity like bandaging; it gets placed on the ground whilst you bandage. If you forget to pick it back up again it stays there; so it becomes more about managing your tool bar (as seen in standalone) than a chance of dropping something. CreepySalad 108 Posted April 2, 2013 Guns would have a lower chance of breaking than other "cheaper" items. So weapons would have a higher chance of being fine, while cheaper things like cans, and bottles will break easily. If you want to have realism, that is.
