JAG's Escort Service

Recommended Posts

To All New Players Hoping To Find A Place In A Complicated And Dangerous World

You bring up your gun, your looking down the sights. You feel a drop of sweat run down the side of your cheek, your head feels hot, and the gun gets harder to steady. You're not sure if he's friendly, but you aren't going to risk it, you've died too many damn times, and can't take any more crap. You bring your gun up one last time, take a deep breath, pray he doesn't bitch on the forums, and squeeze the trigger.

Bang.

He drops, and you quickly rush over to gather your new food, weapons and ammo. You've got it all, and you feel good. You finally have the map and matches you need to get out of beans wars. As your making your way up a hill, finally heading inland, you hear the distinct sound of gunfire.

Woosh, snap, pop pop.

You get down, look around, don't see shit, and keep moving, hoping you don't get hit, after all, you used your last bandage fighting off those zombies. Whoooosh, smack. You're bleeding, badly, you role over unconscious, not knowing what to do.

You Are Dead

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I think it's fair to say, we've all had this experience before, and I know that we all get angry when we're this close to getting out of that starter area, finally feeling like our investment was worth it. This game is ruthless, unforgiving, and has a steep learning curve when trying to survive. You need to make mistakes and learn from them to get good.

This is where we come in. Who are we? We're Just Another Group, or JAG for short. We're a tight, closed-circuit, off the map professional group with hundreds of hours of experience in Arma and DayZ. Recently, the number of new players being unable to leave 'bean wars' has been, quite frankly, shocking, and we want to assist in increasing the Average Life Expextancy counter, and help the numbers rise a bit.

Myself and the other members of the group would like to help out any newly started players, and their friends, get out of the towns along the coast, whilst providing you with the best advice in the game to make sure once you reach inland, you stay alive. We are based in Europe but we don't have a problem working with people from the other side of the world, as long as we can get the times sorted out.

Wait... What?! What Exactly is This?

What we are basically offering is an escort service, we will meet up with you, then help take you out of the coastal areas and bring you inland. While doing this, we'll make sure you get enough gear and supplies to keep you alive, when we leave you to fend for yourself. Simple, Right?

Oooh, OK. I Get It, But How Do I Take Advantage of This?

Essentially what would happen is:

1. You contact me, either on the forum or on steam. We chat on TS/Skype about the game a bit and how you're finding it, just so I can get to know you a bit so I can trust you. And so you can trust me.

2. We meet up, me and one other member of JAG, and get down to business. We have a nice time, we answer all your questions, we find you some nice equipment, and then we part ways.

3. We wish you luck, and ask that you post about your experience here, so people know we don't just want to steal their beans :-)

Why are we doing this?

Who knows, it's just a part of us wanting to make the mod as enjoyable for others as it is for us, and we know that the starting week is a bitch, so we're trying to ease the pain for some people.

Anyway, that's my long ass post about trying to help the community, maybe you'll want it, maybe you won't. If you don't understand something, please feel free to PM me or send me a message on steam!

Many Thanks,

flavouredmax

I have currently stopped taking requests on steam and now will only be answering to PMs on these forums. Thanks.

Screenshots and pictures to make the thread more attractive coming soon!

IMPORTANT: Wow! Looks like the response has been great! Because of the fantastic number of people wanting to get escorted, we ask that any player looking to contact me please be patient with receiving your escort, it takes about 2-3 hours to get someone off the coast and inland with nice gear. Expect on weekends the number of people we are able to get through to be much more. We do promise to get back to people within 48 hours. Thank you for your understanding. :-)

Sounds like a nice I idea. I tried helping out newer players recently. Stocked up a big bag with pistols and ammo and headed to the south west coast to hand them out to newbies. The second one shot me in the back as we parted ways. Hope you guys have a better run than I did haha.

Best of luck to you all

No! Not that kind of escort service! haha

Thanks for the kinds words, I'm just hoping that maybe people will realise we're actually serious about this, and arent just going to roll with this new idea for a week then just stop, we'd like this to be an ongoing thing. As long as there are new players wanting some help, we'll always be ready to give them it.

Great idea flavouredmax!

It is great to see this expanding from outside of the clans and being an option to solo players

Let us at WEG know if we can help.

We actually have our own server which we nearly always play on, otherwise we're on polish or netherlands servers, seeing as they are generally the highest quality in Europe.

We don't strictly teach. We just point out and make sure you know things as we help you get out of whatever sticky situation you're in. Think of it in 2 steps.

Step 1: Get your ass out of wherever the hell you are.

Step 2: Once we're off the coast, we get you equipped, and give you a bunch of info and survival tips like where the best gear is, how to avoid bandits, how to stay alive etc.

While doing this we answer any questions you might have about the game. Hope this clears some things up :)

This gets a large +1 from me, as of now i don't need the service and my friends who play probably wont need it either unless another friend picks up the game but if i see some others who might want some help i will throw this their way.

Complete endorsement of what you are doing here.

This sounds great and I've added you on Steam. Love Dayz even though my life expectancy is short. Going to love working in groups and being able to help others.

I've installed TS and added your server. I hope to speak to you soon.

This is the kind of 'metagaming' the community needs.

Every time I have ever went straight for the hills/woods/outskirts I always died from hunger.... Never ever found any food, something to hunt/clean/and cook with, or heal yourself beyond a bandage. If the learning curve is that steep then there is a design problem, or quit possibly I'm going in circles...... :)

Note to all players.

After searching (and finding) JAGS TS server IP which is on a public steam page today I joined and played most of the evening with two of the JAG guys.

They were really helpful and friendly by the way.

After I left I got a steam message from flavouredmax which was really a bit rude. I should warn players that flavouredmax might act like this and I'm pretty p***ed about being spoken to in that way so...

The other JAG guys, nice enough. flavouredmax, might be a bit of a douche.

(Sorry, couldn't resist with a name like that. Kudos on trying to make the world a better place.)

Allow me to clear some thing up regarding Stri's post.

What had actually happened was this: we had accidently left our teamspeak server information, and the location of our base camp, on our steam page thinking it was private. Stri had obviously come across this and had decided to join the teamspeak server, and play some DayZ with the rest of the group.

When he had joined the teamspeak, there were two other member of the group. After a harsh introduction, Stri had claimed that he had spoken to me, and that he was allowed to join the group, or something like that. So, the two members treated him with the kindness and respect that we would treat any new recruit. They didn't know however that he hadn't been allowed to do this.

Later when I was able to get on steam, I confronted him about this, and was greeted with an outrageous attitude, and him claiming that "you should make sure you keep your steam private next time, im playing with these guys now".

When I learnt that what he had done was snoop around, find our teamspeak information, and invite himself into the group, without any permission from anyone, especially not from our teamspeak server owner and that he just violated the privacy of the group (yes, respect the fact that you don't just barge and become 'part of the gang'), i was furious! Wouldn't you be?

So i said to him, "that is just wrong", "you're ridiculous" and "you think you can just go through private information and invite yourself in?" and promptly ended my conversation with him there.

I have since spoken to the two members of the group, and they both strongly feel that what Stri had done was wrong in every way, and we have all agreed we will not be playing with him at any point in the future.

Correct

When he had joined the teamspeak, there were two other member of the group. After a harsh introduction, Stri had claimed that he had spoken to me, and that he was allowed to join the group, or something like that. So, the two members treated him with the kindness and respect that we would treat any new recruit. They didn't know however that he hadn't been allowed to do this.

Incorrect. I stated I'd added you on Steam (which I had) with the intention of messaging you. I never claimed to have spoken to you.

I'd appreciate you don't spread none-truths about what I've said.

Also, I 'received' a harsh introduction.

Later when I was able to get on steam, I confronted him about this, and was greeted with an outrageous attitude, and him claiming that "you should make sure you keep your steam private next time, im playing with these guys now".

I'm sorry you took my message to mean this because that was not the case. You were/are very careless to take sensitive information like that and make it public. Because it was public I decided that you were monitoring your own chat room. So I joined. I didn't sneaking in, lurk, hide or more importantly use any information to nefarious ends, I could have posted this all on the chat room and told everyone where your bass camp is. I worked and played publicly with Husker and Milky.

If that makes me a bad person, then sh1t, I'm a bad person!

Perhaps if you felt so strongly about privacy you would have took better care?

I'm not sure how I violated the privacy of your publicly passworded TS server. I'm not sure how I barged in. I remember I connected, said hello and one of the guys was 'who the you' and I explained what brought me there.

That's interesting that you say that because I'm back in the room and talking to Milky right now. He doesn't seem pished with me at all.

This is going to be hard to work around seeing some of the pretty rude accusations you've made against me. Especially considering I've not actually done anything wrong.

I am however prepared to admit some fault in order to build bridges. If you're prepared to look past this then so am I. If you're not then I'll talk to Milky and Husker, wish them the best of luck and be on my way.

Stri.
