There is not only the Kvas, I had a can of Beanz, which I could replace with other item while eating them. 

 

So I eat them but they lie on the ground. I take em` and eat em` again... and again. TAB, healthy? No. Eat again.

Oh.... And wait......... Wasnt the immortality of zombies on purpose?  The OP writes it like its a bug.   If the zombies taking 10 hits now a glitch, then this game is hopeless.
