Removing the global chat. Too soon?

Recommended Posts

I was wondering, as the game was in Alpha, why the global chat had been removed on most servers.

Because, this is an alpha guys! People should be able to give their impressions in game, not go around saying "This is crap" because they don't understand a bloodbag needs someone else, and other simple mechanics. People who wonder why the hell zeds move like that, thinking they are lagging, but actually it being a known kwirk. Things like that.

------------

I have no doubt there will be other means of communication later in development. But they are not there yet; It was, in my opinion, too early to remove it. :-/

This is a forum, this is where feedback goes.

Not global chat.

We are testing the game, not being able to communicate with the rest of the server is part of the game.

Maybe. Still would help people.

Sure, it wasn't always used the correct way, but still... Preventing voice in anything but direct chat would be OK, but the chat itself didn't need to go. People still communicate over huge distances through other means, and no way to prevent that. But in early developpement, communication, in or out of the game, can help.

Anyway, thhe forum is filled with so much stuff and doubles that finding something and giving feedback becomes impossible.

There are many other ways to get help for the game, besides im tired of seeing "ANYONE IN CHERNO?? XDXD"

Besides, direct chat and voice work just fine, I've met more friendlies with global off, than I did with it on.

Hmm... Can't imagine Rocket wouldn't have thought about this aspect. Global chat is definitley very impoortant for newer players; would make sense to keep it activated during the alpha stage.

But i guess he wants to test the effect of his changes on player interaction and "no global chat" is a vital part of this.
