Different Scopes For The M4A1 Functionality Still In The Works?

Recommended Posts

So iv been noticing this for awhile with the M4A1 and im sure others have tried it but some of the different scopes have on/off functions on them and you can actually put batteries into the scopes. So im wondering if there is going to be more to these scopes than just better accuracy and zoom functionality? Like Night vision, object tracking, etc. Idk it just seems really odd that i can put batteries into the various scopes and they do nothing yet.

Im curious as to what you guys think they are or if those functions are just temporary for something else.

As far as I am aware red dot scope in the future will require battery to work... that is it.

There should be.

The M86 in real life is compatible with NV, also from Wikipedia:

"The sight is water-tight down to 25 meters and runs on one 3-volt Lithium battery type 2L76 or DL1/3N. The aiming dot's brightness is adjustable for better visibility and increased battery life. The M68 is parallax-free at around 50 yards, meaning that the red dot will not change position based on eye position at that range. At shorter ranges the point of aim will change position based on eye position with the maximum error being equal to the diameter of the sight's optical window at short range."

Well it just seems REALLY weird cause allot of the scopes including the handgun scope has an on off functionality.

I REALLY love that M68 scope. I use it more than the ACOG sight. And if that is true than im blessed to have them now if they decide to add the function to the items latter on.

If its just for the red dot im cool with it. But if its for more than the red dot than im all for that as well. Im hoping the batteries become more valuable all around latter on period.

The zoom atm is too fucked up to use it really imo, its just too far away. The casing of the scope blocks my sight.. Atm preferring either acog or BUIS. BUIS because the circle is so small around the center of the screen, that you might aswell use that circle as crosshair. Has about the optimal size.

I never have an issue with them as far as im aware of. I can snipe zombies normally fine with whatever sight im using on the M4A1 no matter what. Again though if you not using the MP attachments that can have an effect on the sights accuracy as well id imagine including the quality of the parts.

"Snipe zombies" eh? Okay. I'm talking about actual combat when enemy players aim at you from their cover. Quality of parts does not matter. It does not affect accuracy on any part and in any way, even on sights. Unless they are ruined. If they are ruined, they count as non-attached.

I'd eventually like to see at least a few battery types, because shoving a 9V in everything sort of defeats the purpose of rarity with optics. I'm sure it'll change once they've balanced the loot, but I don't see why the 9V should be the only battery.

That said, I really don't know how they're going to approach attachments at this point. From an "ease of development" perspective, I would think that just making a slew of 1913-compatible attachments would be easier than making weapon-specific ones (because they all play off the same railed interface). For weapons that do not come standard with rails, looted rail mounts/foreguards should be an option.

It just seems cumbersome to me (from a development point of view), to be designing weapon-specific optics like the PSO which can only fit on one or a few weapons. If they want to give the AKM a CQC capability, then they'd have to design a whole new optic model. Rather than just having a looted rail be available upon which a player could mount whatever he/she can find.

Although it does make sense for them to split the optics up by Warsaw Pact/NATO from a tiered commonality perspective, I'd rather them explore the 1913 interface more so, if only for ease of development (this is speculative).

As for batteries, I think it's all part of the system. Batteries for your optics and lights. Cleaning kit for your weapon. I'd like to see even more of a maintenance process in keeping your weapons up to snuff.
