wizardman290 1 Posted April 22, 2014 Okay, so I have read and heard that the Arma II multiplayer servers will be stopping, I just bought Arma II today and got the DayZ mod, did I just waste my money? Will the DayZ servers still be up and running? I am worried I just wasted 10$ on the complete edition. Please reply ASAP, btw if you see a survivor named Donplonex out there, I am friendly! applejaxc 2500 Posted April 22, 2014 ArmA 2 FREE SERVERS are closing, NOT DAYZ MOD SERVERS and NOT NORMAL SERVERS. Only the servers provided for people playing the "Demo" version of the game are losing online multiplayer.

Facetentacles 92 Posted April 22, 2014 I just started seriously playing epoch today so that's good. Too bad I somehow destroyed my huge backpack when I picked up a smaller one by mistake, including the gun in it, and someone stole my ambulance while I was at the traders. Sigh... applejaxc 2500 Posted April 22, 2014 Give me this link where you read this.thank you. I thought my full 16 hours of building my base in epoch was for nothing XD Click on ArmA 2 in your Steam Library (if that's where you bought it) and there should be an announcement. I've also seen it on their website, in other threads, and on Youtube + since the announcement that servers would be closed I've played both the mod and ArmA 2/Operation Arrowhead (full) online without a problem. It's only the free mode COOP servers that are affected.

meiz22 17 Posted April 22, 2014 Well there is the Arma free getting shut down but Gamespy are also shutting down their servers which will effect many games, Arma 2 by it's self won't work quite the same apparently but they will be moving OA over to steam. Couldn't say how the latter effects Dayz (Mod) though. So far, Bohemia Interactive seem to be the only publisher happy to publicly announce how they're handling the shutdown. In a statement on their forum, they say: "This is going to affect multiplayer in our games that use Gamespy for matchmaking, cd keys authentification and NAT traversal from Arma: Resistance to Arma 3. We are planning to introduce an alternative solution using Steam to Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead and Arma 3 users. "Other games (Take On Helicopters, Arma 2, Arma 2: Free, Arma, Arma: Cold War Assault) will have more limited multiplayer experience with loss of server browser, cd key authentification and NAT traversal systems. That said, direct IP connection to servers should work even after Gamespy services are no longer available." http://www.pcgamer.com/2014/04/04/gamespy-multiplayer-service-shutting-down-next-month/
lipemr 160 Posted April 22, 2014 i think gamespy shutting down will have way more impact on our gameplay than arma 2 free. i hope it doesnt screw up the mod.
