Feeling Guilt

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, so I was at the military base under pavlovo, and I was with my friend and he was lagging around, and I followed him into a building to see what he was doing, and he went upstairs and I couldn't see him and I started walking down this hallway and my friend said he just logged off.

When I reached near the end of a hallway I saw someone there and realized it wasn't my friend, and I pulled out my Magnum, and the guy said 'Hey dude' (He was extremely geared) and I shot him 6 times and killed him and I realized he was trying to be friendly because he didn't retaliate, and I killed him, and now I feel bad.

even though I got a shit tonne of gear for it. I wish I didn't kill him. It scared me seeing a dude in there so I killed him on sight.

What would you guys have done, I never really feel guilty for my kills, but this one changed me. I'm not a bandit or anything but I don't like to take chances, knowing other people KOS me too.

I may have let him live since he actually spoke... But if he had his weapon out, I wouldn't have thought twice about shooting him, an if he started to pull out a weapon, I would have shot him.

Honestly, just plain shooting him was probably your best option. No way someone was just sitting in there to make friends with all that gear.

You shot him 6 times with a magnum and still managed to get gear off him.. maybe you shot 6 times but if you hit 6 times he wont have much good gear. And everyone knows the military base/airfield isn't a place to be friendly. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You actually feel bad over erradicated pixels?

I understand that in some people this game brings out a pretty emotional response but I just don't get it. It is a game. If you feel more than that for it maybe it is not such a healthy thing for you to be participating in.

Feel a little jolt from it sure but enough to feel bad hours later?

Maybe I have just played to many games over the course of my life and become cold to it.

Killing in a game is not killing unless you are controlling a drone someplace while you do it and there is a real life outcome over your button pushing.

At worst your ruining his gaming session for him. That is sort of the point in most competitions. One person is going to go away a loser. Being the loser while it might teach also leaves a sour taste in peoples mouths. You being the victor should learn to accept the spoils of your choices. Be happy for him that he got to do something rather than just run around alone in a big pixel playground. You enriched his gaming experience by interacting with him even in a negative way.

I wouldn't care too much. Military spawn points aren't the place for making friends. Who goes there always knows the risk of it and takes it willingly. Even if you "ruined his day" you gave him the possibility to start from the beginning and.that's the best part of the game when you feel free of the burden of your gear.

I always KoS when inside a building. I just feel like I have way less strategic options in a tight space like that and that makes me feel uncomfortable when encountering players. I probably would've done the same, and I have in a few similar situations. Buildings are death traps with all their ambush potential. I always clear the building and shoot anything that lives before I even look at the loot. Once, this resulted in a dead survivor, but many more times I left a dead bandit behind in buildings. Sometimes the innocent die, just get over it and enjoy your new shiny gear.

I guess I'm with the minority in sympathising with the OP's feelings.

next time you do it, tell him to run back, and youll protect his gear, and to add your steam, because they can hear you while dead
