NinjaPandaz123 0 Posted April 18, 2014 I've been playing for over a week now, and I've met loads of people. I don't have a microphone (I just use over ear headphones) so I use Type chat instead, however I can not see or hear there reply. This is annoying as it means instant death if I meant a Bandit and cant hear him say 'hands on head'. Is there a way to fix this!? plz help. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
SmashT 10907 Posted April 18, 2014 I've seen others throughout ArmA/DayZmod/DayZ with the same issue. A couple of things people have tried that worked: If you can get a cheap mic, (pretty sure you could even use ipod/iphone headphones and plug them into your mic input if you have a pair lying around) to test, although I wouldn't recommend using it to talk, for some reason if you don't have a micophone plugged in, direct coms won't work for some people, strange I know. Alternatively, you can try opening your windows sounds settings. Click the Start Button, type MMSYS.CPL in the Start Search box and press Enter. Go to the tab "Recording". You'll see Microphone, Line In, Stereo Mix, etc. If you don't see them, right click in white space and click the “Show Disabled Devices” and “Show Disconnected Devices" check marks. Now. Set Stereo Mix as the Default device. Helpful if you have a friend to test with as many people in-game won't reply at all. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
MetapoliC 263 Posted April 18, 2014 I'm using a 2.99€ mic and it's sound quality is great. You should buy and use one, DayZ: Standalone is that one kind of a game where you need a mic because it is the only way to communicate with others. The ones who have a mic are using it but the ones without a mic, are simply not communicating at all. They will not stop and chat with you. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
NinjaPandaz123 0 Posted April 19, 2014 Thanks for the help guys, I managed to solve the problem. I plugged in my speakers into the microphone slot, and then plugged in my headphones into the normal slot. That seemed to do the trick for some reason so now I can hear people scream "take of your trousers or ill kill you!!".
