Run faster with fire axe in hand?

I thought you ran faster with axe, so tested side by side with friend.  You run just a little slower than someone with nothing in their hands.  Worked it out it's an optical illusion the animation makes it seem that you're running faster,

Along the same lines....I have comfirmed that when you're sniping; if you start your left click finger a few inches above the mouse, and then slam it down in a firm, deliberate fashion, the subsequent round carries more impact/stopping power.
