Quick Question Regarding Dayz.cfg

Recommended Posts

To improve your FPS in game i know you can alter some files in the .CFG file. i've done all of that, but my question is:

does the number "1000" in the .CFG represent 1000 meters/yards?

players render at one kilometer max, so i was going to change my files to only render things at a kilometer. any help is greatly appreciated!

I don't think you can change anything about the viewdistance much, as it's set by the game and is supposed to be set, so you can't change it.

You can adjust the quality of objects at distances, though, which may be what he's going for?

I'm actually a bit curious about this myself now.

Someone smarter than me (doesn't take much) give us an answer!

You sometimes see the shape of objects, such as houses and trees change when zooming in. This does not apply for players.

I found that adjusting my object quality directly affects how far away I can see players. I had it set to low for performance reasons, and saw a guy from 500 meters away, only I could only see his arms and half a floating head. After playing with it a bit and turning up my object quality I can spot people, at least as tiny little blips, at 800m out now without a scope.

Mainly why I was curious about what OP asked as far as view distance. If I crank up object quality it wants to load in everything farther out at higher detail, so if I can minimize that to the max distance I can see a player, all the better

Edit: sorry if I'm not making a lot of sense here. On my 3rd 13+ hour shift in a row and it's wearing on me. ;)

Max player seeing distance is 1000 meters, after that the server doesn't show you that person.

sorry for the confusion, what i really wanted to know is,

is the value "1000" in the .CFG equal to 1KM in game?

i just want to be able to change all my settings so that it only renders things at 1KM, seeing as that's the distance players renders at and anything further doesn't seem to be too beneficial..

thanks for all the replies though! :)
