Rendering Resolution Lag?

This is probably a stupid question but I play on a 900p monitor and when I turn rendering resolution upto 100% (1440x900) it lags and I have to keep it on 50%. Is that meant to lag?

 

I didn't know whether it is meant to lag like that or not. I'm getting a GTX 760 soon and hopefully it won't do it anymore.

There are better ways to change your framerate than changing your resolution, as it can make the game look quite hideous. Try some of these fixes for now:
