Player Controlled Currency System?

Recommended Posts

Currency can be whatever you want to be however currency has always been based around perceived rareness of something, well up until a couple of hundred years ago anyway.

So beans, ammo, whatever, can all be based as currency and with the mechanic of destroying those items on people when you kill them, people in need would have to chance bartering instead of killing.

The only thing the devs need to do, is make things rarer, which I am totally 100% for. Oh and maybe the hive lol

I think the game should have something that is completely useless, but kinda rare and really small.
And it should be up to the players if they collect it, use it or accept it.

I think it'd be interesting to find different kinds of money (Mainly USD, Euros, Rubles, and Deutsch Marks) but their set value would probably be limited because you cannot do a whole lot with them.

Still, it'd be interesting to make a coin collection or whatever as another one of your "DayZ hobbies" (like reading, for instance)

I would only pick them up if I was with a community that used them, otherwise it would be worthless to others and take up space. If others were trading, however, I would love to use them

ATM my clan just gives each other what they can spare, and picks stuff up for each other. with this system, we don't need currency. And when we do trade with other clans, we usually use food and ammo/mags, and guns in larger transactions. When base building is implemented and we settle down, however, we are looking into a uniform currency system for sure, and the giving will stop.

I just want them as lootable objects, not that they need to have some sort of set value that the game provides. $1 bills existed before the apocalypse, you could still find them afterwards. They may not have any singular purpose but it adds definition to what a real apocalypse scenario would be like (Not everything you find could be useful, even though money could be used as a short fire fuel)

i think the most realistic way for people to trade is actually not adding any kind of trading currency stuff. they want a walkie talkie, you want a ammo box, you trade like it would be natural. currency is not needed at all, trading dynamically. that would be realistic

Well, in real life, gold would become the "currency"!

In end of the world situation, gold silver etc is as useful as rocks u find on the road, food and weapons would be main currency

Trust me on this, a bag of stale flour is worth more than gold, i have experienced this first hand. During the last balkan war, neighbours were begging my dad to sell them what flour we had left for a price we could have bought a tv. Food is more important than anything
