gibonez 3633 Posted April 8, 2014 Mosin and SV-98 are the only military bolt-actions which use 7.62x54R. And no, it's not common in a wide variety of hunting riles. Just checked Zastava and CZ, no 7.62x54R hunting rifles to be found. Yea I can't seem to find any bolt guns that are chambered in it aside from the finnish tak 85. Probably because of how corrosive the ammo is. Puts pits in your grooving so quickly.

-Gews- 7443 Posted April 8, 2014 And for what it's worth, like you said, the Mosin seems to be the primary firearm (in terms of numbers of weapons) to use 7.62x54R. So, in DayZ, it's classified as a so-called "civilian" weapon. Which would therefore link it with 7.62x54R as a "civilian" round. In DayZ's world correct. When they introduce the SVD that would make it an even split between "civilian"/"military" Any other guns using it would almost certainly be military... but maybe they have no intention of adding a PKM... which would be unfortunate. Since the ballistics of the two are effectively identical it's possible they see no value in "adding" 7.62x54R and that we will be permanently stuck with 7.62 NATO Mosins and SVDs. Anyways the question: Will a ppsh 41 be added to the game? The answer: nobody knows. But more likely "no" than "yes".
