Caboose187 (DayZ) 3036 Posted April 7, 2014 Just out of curiosity, will servers be allowed to run 24/7 once item respawn gets implemented?
Geckofrog7 1168 Posted April 7, 2014 I am also curious. I'm always so paranoid about dropping things in case of reset.

I'm always so paranoid about dropping things in case of reset.Heh, that's why I don't at the moment, although I know when my server resets so I can safely drop some stuff and get back to it before it does :p. DarkwaveDomina 1099 Posted April 7, 2014 Don't the servers get all laggy and stuff if they're up too long? This seems to be my experience. Hopefully they'll fix that too.

I suppose I should have asked if server performance was going to be included with item respawn
kichilron 8550 Posted April 7, 2014 The plan ultimately is, that there are no restarts needed anymore - but in this very early stage I wouldn't bet on it. Servers would just get overly laggy.

Judopunch 523 Posted April 7, 2014 I would assume that there will be a transitional period where we will have both, but hopefully we will have longer than 4 hour blocks of up-time immediately. Depends on if there are any problems. Eventually to my knowledge servers should seldom require a restart, but that is a very very long way off.
cav_guy 62 Posted April 7, 2014 Just out of curiosity, will servers be allowed to run 24/7 once item respawn gets implemented? I certainly hope so, although as others have said, I doubt it will happen right away - alpha and all. This plus persistent loot will help increase the "stickiness" of servers. chompster 171 Posted April 7, 2014 At the very least i hope it can be longer than 4 hours, which is annoyingly short.
dcrypt 15 Posted April 7, 2014 Seen as though tents/storages are not in the game yet, I've been playing on servers what reset every 12 hours so I can spend them 12 hours gathering loots and hiding them away like the dirtbag I am. Hope some dedicated servers are up soon as I want to find a home server and horde loot

Trigger Hippy 176 Posted April 7, 2014 I would imagine 24 hour running would be their ideal. To prevent servers clogging up with discarded junk that causes undue load, items not put in 'save points' like tents that also aren't on spawn points should be deleted.
