My first hours of playing.

So I though I'd share my first hours playing with you all.

The first time I logged in I ran straight for the inland as I was told that was the safest place to head. I saw a load of buildings after 15 minutes of running and started to search through.. got jumped by a zombie and ran bleeding as a pig.. after a good while I managed to find me some shirts that I turned into rags, a backpack and a hammer.. After 4/5 more zombie encounters my rags were all used up and after looking through more empty buildings I had to run from 3/4 mobs. I came across anotehr player and after waving we both head our seperate directions. By now my guy was hungry as hell, I had 3/4 cans of food but luck has it I had no way to open them. Finally I died of starvation :(

 

Then joined a friendly clan and together with another guy we headed for another town, after 10 minutes or so we saw a guy, then 2. but trying to punch us to dead so we ran. To bad they had yet another friend who did have a rifle and we both died.

 

Respawned yet again and ventured into a semi big town. Was trying to get my bearings when I suddenly heard a guy saying Hi (I had seen him, though I thought he was a zombie..) he gave me a few cans of beans and even an canopener. So I wsas all set, another guy (the same guy was I met in my earlyer life) joined us as well and for a bit we looked around for loot but most was gone. The friendly chap who gave me the food also gave me a pistol with a few rounds so that was nice.

 

I met up with my clan buddy again and shared some food again and we set off to find some more gear. When I logged out I had a backpack again and some stuff..

 

So far really enjoying the game. Being in a clan and not just being alone running around aimlessly really makes it more fun though =)

Yea, just met up with 3 others from the clan.. had a blast running around helped a few noobs.. then we got cornered into a building by some guys with even better gear.. and we all got killed because somehow they ended up shooting through the walls :(

Got all geared up again.. backpack.. some food, drinks a m4 with some ammo.. oh and the most important, a can opener =)

 

Yea this game is pretty fun.. though still never been to electro or any real big town yet.. keep spawning way far away from them.. though seeing how hard my computer handles even the smaller towns I doubt I want to go into a real big one :P I should deffo put the settings on low all the way before I try that.

20 Hours of game-play and I finally have an axe. Makes all the difference in looking for stuff.

There's a few tweaks you need to do, particularly change the .cfg file to make sure it uses multiple cores to help your fps.

And just as fast as I got an axe, now I'm dead.

 

Zombie was attacking me through a wall and causing me to bleed. My axe hits were apparently hitting the wall though.

The attack ruined my rags and my shirts so I passed out and died.

 

Sucks but lessons learned.

There's a few tweaks you need to do, particularly change the .cfg file to make sure it uses multiple cores to help your fps.

 

Oh... DayZ doesn't use multicore?... I got a AMD triple core with 2.8 Ghz a core.. kinda pointless if it just uses one :P

 

*edit* Didn't fiddle around with the cfg (yet) don't know if I'm going to. But did find the topic and added "-nosplash -skipIntro -cpuCount=3 -exThreads=3" to my startup.. we'll see how much that gains.. it at least knows i got 3 CPU's now.

Another day on, still alive.. got shot though was unconcious for a while but somehow I survived. Luckily I just found a complete first aid kid with an IV blood bag and everything so got some blood off a clan mate to get some color in my screen again =)

 

Got like 300 ammo rounds on me, feel like a complete armory.. though when I got shot most of my clothes.. and 80% of my food/water supply got ruined :( so work to do again.. keeps it interesting I guess.

Yes, it does. It may have problems with utilizing all available threads for best efficiency for a CPU but it does use multi-threading.

Just had a little "thats alpha for ya" moment.. Was running around in a town suddenly I'm getting hit by a invisible zombie.. so I run like mad and notice I can't change my weapons no more.. So I log out.. and Log back in minutes later bleeding like hell and with a painfull leg :/

 

So of course I banaged myself. but now i'm stuck being energized / hydraged / healing.. but with a painful leg.. painkillers didn't work.. how can I fix my leg? its not broken (I got a split on me as well actually xD) Will my leg fix itself because i'm "healing" ?

I got IV kits, saline, blood bag.. pain killers.. everything.. but no Morphine! :P

Survived another day.. Was looting up near an airfield with a clan buddy. Then the server we were on suddenly rebooted. 2 other people joined as well just as we got back, and ofcourse they were right at the airfield we were. I got knocked down right away, arm broken, bleeding like mad. Luckily I came back after a while and ran off, banaged and then scoped around.. my m8 was still alive and finally I saw the people who shot me. I killed one of them and the other one ducked away and was finally killed by my mate.

 

A saline bag and a morphine later i'm good to go again.

 

That just was really intense.. looking around with a scope while everthing is grey trying to see who shot you.. quite the thing.. that gets your blood rushing.
