TheHuntsMan87 194 Posted April 4, 2014 (edited) I was thinking to myself, wouldn't it be nice for the hardcore servers if you could have something more advance when it came to snipers etc. I was thinking about a thing called D.O.P.E {Data Of Personal Equipment} i think we should be able to use what mark mans actually use, i know that dean said he is adding weather to affect the round/drag of your round but i would like to see more negative lead with cars, bikes etc. Don't get me wrong i love how there is bullet drop etc but i think for the people who just use rifles with scopes and who really do have rifle experience {yes i am a marksman and do alot of shooting in my spare time plus do alot with my job} Anyway what do you lovely people think? would love feedback Edited April 4, 2014 by TheHuntsMan87
w1lg5r 70 Posted April 5, 2014 this would make sniping less of a cheap thing and more of a legitimate way to play.
TheHuntsMan87 194 Posted April 5, 2014 this would make sniping less of a cheap thing and more of a legitimate way to play.Thankyou...your totally right, it feels abit cheap when someone can snipe you with ease. i would like to see this on hardcore servers at least :)
irishroy 1347 Posted April 5, 2014 (edited) Hm.I understand 0% of what you're saying, but it seems to make sniping harder/more skillful. So Yes Edited April 5, 2014 by irishroy
TheHuntsMan87 194 Posted April 5, 2014 hahahahha you won the internet with that comment. basically its what markmans learn with law enforcement, swat, armies etc but most hunters/gamekeepers also learn it...it just something that needs more attention i think. hopefully something like he above will come into play one day :)

Because this rule would be forgotten in an apo Edited April 5, 2014 by irishroy

Because this rule would be forgotten in an apoD.O.P.E is a term for when you know your shooting range..basically if i had killed someone at 200M i would know it would be 200M when a another person pops up but are further away you need to compensate and re-adjust you line of sight, distance, check the weather conditions etc. D.O.P.E is mainly just for distances etc and yes your correct SMTH is snipers dairy they basically add all the information from what they have done today, what time they got up, possible locations of snipers, the times they see people etc. that would also be very cool if implemented into the game :)
w1lg5r 70 Posted April 6, 2014 I have never understood why people wanted sniping completely removed, it has the potential to be one of the most skillful mechanics in the game. Particularly if you want Dayz to feel like a hostile environment where you could be killed from anywhere. When private hives are properly customisable, making sniping hard is probably the only thing stopping dayz from becoming complete deathmatch.
hassan030 22 Posted April 6, 2014 Huntsman, how would you see a possible wind gauging system being implemented into the game? I think (relatively) advanced stuff like velocity meters might be a bit over the top for the Chernarus background. The first things that pop in my mind are flags or vanes. Possibly even something as simple as a piece of string that is attached to the end of your barrel. However, I can understand that things like this might be hard to implement. AnyoneInCherno? 187 Posted April 6, 2014 Id like to see the iron sights change as you changed the distance. Im forgetting the correct wording here, i am very tired today, but i hope you understand what i mean.
OrLoK 16186 Posted April 6, 2014 Hello there Ive never had the opportunity to use the mosin in DAYZ, but in Arma3 distand sniping is not all that easy due to wind and bullet drop. Is wind not inherently in? It could be that with the current DAYZ mosin cfg the round is too powerful and wind has little effect? Rgds LoK

Dean has stated that they will put it in, but first they have to figure out how to show the players which direction the wind is going as well as how fast/\.
