Katana67 2907 Posted April 9, 2014 (edited) I don't see the point in adding any M4/M16 variants into the game. I also don't understand why some people find the SCAR and Steyr AUG "stupid" or unlikely. Plenty of countries who are part of NATO use both rifles. I think, especially with the AR-15, that it might be better just to include more attachments and/or modifications (like longer barrels, or even dedicated "kits" which could be looted). More variants without actually having more weapons. Agreed about the SCAR and AUG. Not sure there are any who use both but yeah, Lithuania (former Soviet nation) adopted the Mk 20 as a DMR. Serbia uses the Mk 16 with their police. France. Germany (borders Czech Republic). Croatia. Belgium. I don't think a Mk 16 (SCAR-L) would necessarily be useful, as it could essentially be the same (in-game) as an M4 but I can certainly see a Mk 17 being useful in game. Either way, never saw a point in limiting yourself to a particular weapon set as if seeing a particular weapon breaks "immersion". Doesn't break mine. Martmital 436 Posted April 9, 2014 With absolute and unending authenticity and realism ? You are playing in a made up country, with made up history. Pretty much anything could be authentically Chernarussian.
gibonez 3633 Posted April 11, 2014 You are playing in a made up country, with made up history. Pretty much anything could be authentically Chernarussian. I was referring to how the weapons would function and react. However concerning what weapons should be added I think they should keep the current trend a solid mix of civilian weapons and Eastern european/soviet military weapons all in common military chamberings and popular civilian loads. Katana67 2907 Posted April 24, 2014 (edited) Figured it out. Instead of the mid-length AR-15, I think Torchia needs to pursue the L129A1. Reasoning- The UK purchased thousands of them, and it's a good bet that the UK was or could have been present in Chernarus (or neighboring Takistan).- Torchia recently commented on a handsome kitted-out AR-10 in a local Prague gun shop (essentially an analog).- Luvo Prague, a Czech company, manufactures similar AR-10 variants.- 16" barrel, pretty mid-length (although no longer referring to the gas system) to me.- Provides a rare, modular alternative to the inbound SVD.- Heavy hitting 7.62x51 round would actually differentiate it in-game from the current AR-15 (M4A1) we've got now.- Hell, you could even give it a fixed stock a la Mk 11 to emulate Torchia's stated goal of having a fixed-stock AR-15.
