Can't view in game map, i press M and get a black screen

I'm playing on regular setting not veteran but when i press M it goes to the map screen but there is no map it's just a black screen. Why is this, do you have to find a map in game or is something wrong?

Yes you have to find one.

Check your gear and if you can not see a map in there, you need to find one first. You don't start with a map.

Well, in case you do have a 2nd screen you can always use an "online map" quite nicely (Obviously you can use those without having a 2nd screen but then you have to alt tab whenever you want to have a look on the map).

They also have all the loot spots marked on them.

Personally, i use http://dayzmap.info but there is loads of other ones so you can just pick the one that suits your preferences best (google is your friend).
