Weapon / item in hand up/down like a whore's draws?

I fired up Dayz yesterday for the 1st time in a few weeks and ran into a game stopping issue. It was nearly impossible to keep a weapon in my hand. 

 

It went like this:

• Spawn
• Use hotbar/toolbar to shoulder weapon. - nothing happens.
• Press Tab drag primary to hands. - nothing happens
• Try again.
• Try again - its works.
• Move, weapon removed from hands.
• Press Tab drag primary to hands. - nothing happens
• Try again.
• Try again - its works.
• Move, weapon removed from hands.
• Try a pistol
• Pistol in hand
• Move, pistol removed from hands
• Try a pistol
• Pistol in hand
• Move, pistol removed from hands
• Try a pistol
• Pistol in hand
• Move, pistol removed from hands

Quit..

 

I'm sure this is related to lag.. but i had no dsync shown, good fps.  I spent over 5 minutes trying to simply keep a weapon in my hands.  If i'd run into another player or zombie i'd be screwed.

 

Anyone else had this issue?  I was on an official UK hardcore server with 30 other players.

yeah this happens to me several times, for that i always spam the hotkey since i see its doing something, then i press again 1-3 times and i have the weapon equipped. very annoying, especially when someone is charging you and you have less time to react. for me it seems like this always happens, wenn you are on a high pop server or in location, with many players in it, like elektro.

Have you tried a different server?

 

Way back I have heard there are naughty people that can make you do that.

Hmmm OK.

 

I actually didn't try a different server at the time.  Will do next time.

Same here, although on some servers I did not seem to have this problem.

I was complaining about my gun getting holstered for no reason after trying to draw it.

I found a good workaround though.

 

It seems to only happen when the item you are placing in hands requires a "draw" animation (pistols, rifles, melee) - very noticeable when switching from a rifle to a pistol.

 

What I do, is putting a water bottle under some hotkey and when I want to draw a weapon, I first pull out the water bottle, and then the weapon. My char doesn't seem to holster weapons after I do that.

 

True, it's not very feasible to always take out a bottle before a weapon, but it's actually faster then struggling.

Do you mean... Hackers?...

 

I've heard of them, but I've never seen one myself.
