Disconnecting to avoid Death proposal

After two guys today that escaped their normally unescapable death (may they rot in hell), i really think this is going out of hand.

So here is my well thought out (imo) proposal to the whole problem. The thing about it is that this solution is pretty complex, and might be not too easy to implement. Here we go:

- every player is in NORMAL MODE

- NORMAL MODE: You can't log out after someone in 500 meters radius SHOT

- after a SHOT a 30 seconds timer starts while you can't log out

- after a period of 5 minutes consecutive not being able to log out you enter LOGOUT MODE (note, e.g. 5 seconds between to 30 seconds phases don't count as being able to log out)

- LOGOUT MODE: You are able to log out no matter what for 1 minute

- after LOGOUT MODE you enter NORMAL MODE

Every player should have some indicator in his GUI that indicates his current mode. Radius and timers might need adjustments, but i think they should be pretty decent like this. This should fix most of those lame danger disconnects. If someone could not be killed for 5 minutes i think it is just fair he can log out if he wishes to.

I dunno if you read this, but if you really consider this solution feel free to ask for further clarification or better pseudo code. I think the biggest problem considering implementation should be the radius thingy.

This is a possible suggestion, true, but it needs refinement and i wanted to hear oppinions about it. Then it might BECOME a real SUGGESTION.

Why so complicated?

Just add a 1 minute disconnect timer with the choice for instant-exit (closes game, but character stays ingame for 1 minute)

Thats all we need.

Maybe add a 5 minutes serverblock for rejoining.

Sounds really nice aswell.

My solution ist more of a fighting area block. Like you can't log out from a hotspot for 5 minutes.

The suggestion forum is the place to discuss and refine suggestions. That's literally why it exists, and that's where the developers go to read about suggestions. It's also useful for finding out that your idea has already been proposed (which yours has, by the way).

Just friendly advice. Feel free to get all riled up about it though.

Bad from both a gameplay (metagame as stated above) and a development point of view (over stated system that is of little use)

Posts like this make me laugh for two reasons. One, the OP is an imbecile for thinking that General Discussion is where you make your rough draft SUGGESTION before it goes in the SUGGESTION forum. Two, because half the community complains the "elitists" bash every thread and act like asshats to anyone who isn't a veteran... oh the irony. :dodgy:

Way to be an asshat for little to no reason, good day sir.

P.S. Your idea is overly complicated IMO, a simple timer on logout would be a sufficient fix.

That's been done before and results in player duping, allowing two people to dupe their items.

Sounds good, but radius too high. If someone happens to be firing off their weapon like crazy, everyone around him can no longer log out. Unless your definition of Shot is being shot at, and being hit. Otherwise great idea.
