Editor to create your own maps (terrain)

Recommended Posts

After long days of wandering in Chernarus I wanted to return to my home, but in the same framework DayZ. In other words, I wanted to create my card, a kind of a small home in the world DayZ, move their home space in cyber space where I could accurately determine its location even without the card. And here I am, full of enthusiasm, began his search in the search engine to all the infamous "How to create a map (area) in DayZ?". Gone I immediately saddened me that in order to create your card from scratch you need to have not only some knowledge and experience in similar areas, but quite tolerable knowledge of English, to somehow understand and councils mapmakers special programs. Unfortunately, my English is lame and experience with such programs is not. Of course, there were a couple of games, which were unpretentious map-editors, which I easily understood and created a couple of cards, but it's all wrong. I think not only I would like to run in DayZ, but not in Chernarus , and in your city, region, etc.

Proposal:

Make publicly available and easy to use editor for creating world bundled with the game .

What is the simplicity?

When you start the editor window we see "new world" in which we can specify the size from small: kilometer per kilometer to a maximum as Chernorus itself. Next choose what we will base: water (if you want to create a archipelago ) or ground (plane) . Imagine that we have created a ground plane: we look at it from above in the "free camera ", ie we can travel the world on all axes x, y, z, use the mouse and using the keys W, A, S, D. as many games. Just us on the edges of the editor will be different , "toolbar", as in many image editors, where you can select "surface appearance", "brush" ( adjust the width, etc.), different textures: buildings, places spawn various items and mobs, etc. Further, landscape: edited with the same brush by highlighting cursor certain area where there will be changes. For example : we select a square 100x100 and select tool "Level" and press LMB on the highlighted area, and the longer we keep it , the better the growing mound in this square, with similar dents. About also with texture objects: select any building in the toolbar , click on the place where we want to put it and the mouse wheel , fix its location relative to the axes x, y, z.

Sorry for my bad English. I hope that my thoughts as much as possible available .

Thank you for your attention.

Got it. Congrats on your 100th post

Didn't even notice it, thanks!

Now, back on topic, DayZ uses ARMA 2.5's Engine, if anything, Bohemia should launch something like that.

I'm not quite sure I understand, but are you asking to be able to make a map and be able to import it into dayz to play it?

Something like this is not possible. If you are still interested, you could download cryengine, it's a free download, game engine. There you can make a terrain to suit you, you can also place premade baddies and play it. It's not as easy as I made it out to be but If you are willing to learn you could make a decent game

Not possible AT THE MOMENT. Will be very possible once released.

Just like all other ARMA/OFP games.

On vacation atm, so too lazy to link using this pos touch screen, but if you search some of the interviews with dean, you'll find it.

Yes, they are playable by everyone, have been since 2001, really fun. Arma/ofp is one the few online games that allows for it.

And thx. :)
