Setting up a DayZ server?

Recommended Posts

So recently my Dedicated server was able to be upgraded to 32GB of ram and an even faster Sandy-Bridge. And my community has decided that we want to move into the DayZ realm.

I have a few questions: What kind of servers are there? I see things for SA servers, modded servers, ect...

If I were to get donations, is there any way that I could reward my donors in-game?

Do I need to setup a MySQL database?

I read something about how every player file is saved on the Hive and is able to go from Server to server, but I was wondering, if someone donated 5$ to keep the server up, could I reward them with a shiny weapon or supplies?

Thanks in advance

You will need to rent a server, currently you can not host a local server but maybe you will be able to in the future.

Rental only provided by speciic GSPs, and admin controls are decidedly lacking. You can restart/shutdown the server, change the time of day on the server, and kick people from the server while logged in as admin, in game. The ability to add time compression on the server has been added but not all GSPs have set up admin accounts to be able to take advantage of it.

Admins do not have the power to spawn items. I hope they never will have such powers.

When you want a DayZ SA server now go rent one, its easy.
