Refried 14 Posted June 25, 2012 zombies in this game exist a survivor proximity alarm system, nothing moreand furthermore, the zombies could be fluffy green marshmellows or they could be giant robot dinosaurs with laser beams; the bottom line is they will still be static bits of rigid code that will never change and adapt like a human opponent will. defeating a player character will ALWAYS be more exciting and more satisfying than beating an NPC. LumberBack 43 Posted June 25, 2012 playing on your own server doesnt count though...I play on US 39. It's actually run by a very large' date=' organized clan that I am not a member of. Very risky stuff.I just play smart. Try it some time.[/quote']I dont have a problem staying alive, longest ive gone is 2 weeks for a character. the problem is most people play the game as it is deathmatch... dont say it aint so... lol

WalkerDown (DayZ) 296 Posted June 25, 2012 Initially i played like a "zombie survival" .. and i tried to replicate what i would have done in real life, it was fun .. initially but then the things gone really bad when the "mass" joined as well, and even worse when the bandit skin has been removed. After the frustration of no more RPG were possible, believe me i tried and tried.. no way i were killed by any single player, for no reason, just because they have learned to "FPS" and nothing more; so i've turned doing the same as well. Now i have my mates and we run around well geared to kill other players, we don't really need any of their loot: i couldn't imagine anything that most of players may have that we don't own already. Is it fun? Yup it is.. but that's how you play Arma2 ... so i'm not sure what's this "survival" thing we should experience.Let's face the reality (no flames please):- Food is everywhere, you don't even need to take the risk.. kill animals and you live forever; same for the water (lakes..);- Weapons: same as above; even the military gear is all around the map (deer stands; crashed helis), you don't necessary visit the airports or the firestations to collect em. Even if you're VERY carefully, in a couple of days you'll have everything, especially if you play in team;- Zeds: finally, the center element of the game.. well it's NOT! Zeds are just a side element, they may "attract" you the first couple of days, but after you have learned how they behave, they are just a little annoyance (crawl if you really need to go there). The RPG element is gone, only the new players (because of their ingenuity) adds a little of immersion, but anyone that is older than a couple of days older is basically a bandit. It's like playing Arma.. you search other players for PvP, you die, you respawn and you start again because your clan has much weapons to share. That's it.I'm not sure how ppl are having a different experience that the above.. you can play as lonewolf eventyally (i did for a week), but you can play the single player for that. Yeni 53 Posted June 25, 2012 You want to be a bandit, go solo or find a team. You want to be a survivor, go solo or find a team.Thats pretty much how it works.

Reale 5 Posted June 25, 2012 just a suggestion, dont start a thread if your not willing to accept other peoples point of view...I understand your point but disagree... most people will shoot yes... and thats why its scary to come across players more so than zombies... watch ANY zombie movie and you will find the characters doing the same thing, when they first come across other characters they shit there pants because they dont know if they are good or bad...look at the walking dead (comics and live action), its more about the scenario the characters are placed in to and the issues with other humans that is heightened due to the zombies...you do come across friendlies and they tend to be more friendly than in other games, they add you on steam and slowly over time you build friendships with them and they let you into their base or visa versa ...some times I play on my own but mostly with at least 1-3 other people i know... in that time on the server we regularly play on we have come to know the other people and if they are friendly or not, I will shoot someone with a reputation or someone that has crossed me in the past (jackgunn) you can choose to play as a survivor or a bandit or even as a militant group... me and a few friends yesterday liberated the poor bastards at electro from a group of bandits with mid/high range gear (with only a makerov/shotgun) and then used there own gear against them...I have fixed cars/trucks/atvs/bikes with people... had people give me blood transfusions and given them blood bags for not killing me... I gave a well known bandit on the server I am usually on- morphine as he asked me on direct chat before I knew where he was and he thanked me instead of killing me...friendlies are out there but you need to look... most are like animals but some arnt and that makes it more special - I actually respect the friendlies I know in this game, not like in other games where they seem faceless. Kain Phalanx 9 Posted June 25, 2012 Play on hardcore servers. I meet more friendlies than hostiles on them. Bandits like their third person and peripheral BS.Just rolled up on two strangers at the big factory in an offroader. They saw me before I saw them, but they didn't shoot. Ended up giving one a ride to Berezino and the other elected to stay.

Reth (DayZ) 2 Posted June 25, 2012 ... watch ANY zombie movie and you will find the characters doing the same thing.......look at the walking dead (comics and live action)' date=' its more about the scenario the characters are placed in to and the issues with other humans that is heightened due to the zombies...[/quote']While I disagree with OP, you're basing an outcome of a hypothetical situation told in fictionalized movies, TV shows, and literature. This kind of thing has no merit in the game. Not to say your whole post is worthless, but it would be more helpful to base PvP interactions off of the game, not TV shows and movies.I've found people are typically hostile in this game simply because it's a game that requires a lot of patience. Why run around for 3 hours collecting all those supplies when you can kill one player can get most of what you need within 10 minutes? Sure it's risky, but it's typically worth it.I try not to fire unless another player fires at me first or is running at me with a zombie train, and sometimes I'll be grouped up with a couple other people who don't nessicarliy agree with that value. I wouldn't say I'm a bandit and I'm usually running around solo, I don't explicity kill people for fun, but only if theres a need to. However, I'm not going to hesitate to plug you full of .45 rounds if you start acting hostile towards me and my group. But hey, that's how I choose to play. If someone else wants to be a s00per 3lit3 sn1p3r pwnz0r then it's thier choice to. If someone wants to be friendly to everyone it's thier choice to, although I think these people get greatly taken advantage of in this game. Which should be some food for thought. pr3llox 63 Posted June 25, 2012 well what I want is maybe to have a little less pvp and as a poster mention above when u play on hardcore u will find more non hostile players thats what i wanted too find out.. i may not be the best person to start a discussion or to type in english(im not english so sry for the poor spelling) but i got what i asked for and thankz again for the information.... and sry if I somehow upsetted people by this post. and btw i based my question (not statement)not out off some movies or tv shows but real-life situations but if this is how the game works i can accept that, it maybe be sometimes a little frustrating for me as a new player but i will accept that. WalkerDown (DayZ) 296 Posted June 25, 2012 and btw i based my question (not statement)not out off some movies or tv shows but real-life situations but if this is how the game works i can accept that' date=' it maybe be sometimes a little frustrating for me as a new player but i will accept that.[/quote']Right.. that was my error too, i pretended to simulate the real life, since i tought the game was born as a sort of "zombie apocalypse simulator". In reality it can be played as that IF you want, but unfortunately this kind of gameplay requires that anyone else would do the same, so you have a sort of real life replica, BUT (and here's where the theory fails) this is a game, and ppl playing it are videogame players, so you cannot "force" them to simulate the real life.. many of them just enjoy the fun of killing other players, dying, respawn.. etc. (that are the things you normally do in any FPS). So this game IS NOT A SIMULATOR, atm it is more first person shooter, with some exploration elements, the zeds only adds a bit of mood to it.Your last sentence is correct: this is how the GAME works, unfortunately (unfortunately for those persons that have would liked a simulator more than another shooter), so if you accept it fine.. if you don't: there's other games out there. Refried 14 Posted June 25, 2012 i would love to hear what all of these players who hate PVP intend on doing in their magical unviolent utopia with the current available featuresthis game would be utterly boring with no friendly fire/murder (for proof, see every single game of left for dead ever played that wasn't on 'versus' and/or all of dead island)
fml 29 Posted June 25, 2012 in real life a human would have been extremely thankful for meeting another humanOh' date=' great. Another fucking expert on human apocalypse psychology.I don't even like meeting strangers NOW. You think I'm suddenly going to turn into a social butterfly when the world goes to complete and utter shit? Yeah, no. Not going to happen. Family and friends I know already? Sure, come right in. Maybe children I will think about sheltering. But some random fatass rolls up on me and starts asking for food and medical supplies? BLAM BLAM fatso. I'd gut, cure and eat you sooner than feed you.[/quote']I would slit your throat and hang you from a tree sooner than have sex with you.op is right though' date=' 9 times out of 10 when you meet someone in dayz, they will shoot you... people can say whatever they want, that dont change the facts that this is mainly a deathmatch at the moment...[/quote']I've been playing "mainly a deathmatch" for 32 days straight, 4+ hours a day traveling the map, collecting vehicles, and looting towns. I've died once and killed 5 players.I must be REALLY bad at deathmatch.Or, you're completely full of shit.Which is it?That doesnt even make sense. He didnt say youre bad at deathmatch, he said the game is a deathmatch. Not everything is about you. Just because you survive for an easy amount of time doesnt mean its not a deatchmatch. There goes that mentality again. "I survive so im good and everyone else just sucks."
