hoopman130 6 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Okay so to start I'm going to throw some numbers your way:In the year 2013, this is how much it rained/snowed in Russia. Now if I recall correctly, Cherno is supposed to be in Russia or close to it (correct me if I'm wrong). I don't know if the devs plan on changing the weather system, but as of now it rains way too often. It's almost none stop rain. I'm not complaining/raging, just want to know if the devs plan on changing the system soon or if this is a permanent thing. Any accurate answers would be much appreciated! Thanks! Please don't comment with any such as "search bar" or any other irrelevant, non productive answer, Thanks! Edited March 27, 2014 by hoopman130
amiasfree 262 Posted March 27, 2014 I actually like the frequent rain, but they're just pumping up its frequency for testing, I believe, what with the 'wet-damp-soaked' status effects now.

Gugolas 228 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Chernarus "is" way more west than moscow (source of your datas), and so "is" Cherno. Between 2000 and 3000 km.Anyway, nothing is balanced in the alpha phase of developing :) Edited March 27, 2014 by Gugolas
wingman.edu 55 Posted March 27, 2014 Alpha! New game system, it's got to be tested. Even when it has effects, needs to be frequent so bugs show their ugly faces.
hoffa (DayZ) 71 Posted March 27, 2014 Then we wait it out in buildings, eat our beans, prepare for the coming storm. Alot of players will just log out when this happens if they don't have the appropriate rain clothes, but I can't wait for that. Like in real life, I love the feeling of being inside when it's raining cats and dogs outside
ld-airgrafix 403 Posted March 27, 2014 I actually would like to keep this much rain, it stops players from running around carelessly. It should however rain for longer, keeping you under a tree for hours. What will be the effects of wet clothes? Cold?
The_Monk 320 Posted March 27, 2014 Alot of players will just log out when this happens if they don't have the appropriate rain clothes, but I can't wait for that. Like in real life, I love the feeling of being inside when it's raining cats and dogs outside Night time in the pitch dark is still the best time to play. Then a storm rolls in and the whole area turns into a close quarters, messy nightmare. Some of the best battles over a chopper or vehicle have been had in the dark in the rain, no NVGs. Just flares going off and torches flickering on for split seconds. Adding the element of having to seek shelter takes it to a whole new level.
Survivor_Ted 269 Posted March 27, 2014 Chernarus is just a fictional post-soviet state, I guess you can compare it with eastern Ukraine. They have seemingly taken a lot of IRL inspiration though, such can be seen here: http://forums.dayzgame.com/index.php?/topic/48159-chernarus-in-real/
So Sexy 259 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) Chernarus is far from Russia, far enaugh to have a different climate. Edited March 27, 2014 by So Sexy
antonioajc 500 Posted March 27, 2014 Chernarus is far from Russia, far enaugh to have a different climate.Don't think so. Chernarus literally borders with Russia. Full map of the entire country as shown on Arma 2:
makomachine 263 Posted March 27, 2014 Just south of the debug zone.... :)I believe it's far enough from Russia to sustain a different weather pattern. I'm hopeful we'll see seasonal changes as well someday! Who wouldn't want to follow a blood trail through the woods on a snowy day!?!
So Sexy 259 Posted March 27, 2014 Don't think so. Chernarus literally borders with Russia.Full map of the entire country as shown on Arma 2:anyways, Russia has many different climate areas, so which part of Russia does it border?Btw, green sea...Yellow submarine, anyone? :D
BadAsh (DayZ) 1513 Posted March 27, 2014 You don't mind it now, but what happens when the effects actually have penalties? Then it will be the time orange rain coats and wellies become very scarce and very valuable items indeed.
antonioajc 500 Posted March 27, 2014 (edited) anyways, Russia has many different climate areas, so which part of Russia does it border?Btw, green sea...Yellow submarine, anyone? :DI think the Green Sea is just similar to the Black Sea, so my guess is south of Russia. Maybe near Ukraine? Edited March 27, 2014 by AntonioAJC
