Creating a necessity to allow for temporary groups (Night + Zombie Hordes + Events)

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I am very new to Dayz, so my perception of the game might not be the best at the moment. I have also been playing the standalone version, so I am not fully aware if this feature is something to be surely implemented. Either way, let me know if I'm saying wrong for having very few play hours. Here goes:

Player interaction comes down to either a player helping a player, or a player killing a player:

If a player kills a player it's either about staying alive, self fulfilment, trolling, whatever we call it.

If a player helps a player, it's mostly due to self belief / honor/ doing what is right, whatever we call it. This is where the suggestion is directed towards. I think there's a lack of necessity in keeping a player alive, which seems to throw away one of those "I couldn't care less about you, but I need you for my own sake.".

One of the reasons is probably due to zombies being easy to kill (unless you pull your weapon, and they randomly teleport / go invisible on you). For now, the zombies are scattered, wandering around and are only triggered by player events.

I think it would be fun to create some sort of scripted events, where zombies actually gather to do harm, in a bigger scale. Let's say it's dawn, and for some reason, lights around cities are still operating on a schedule, which allows for better visibility during the night time. Zombies would be attracted by these lights and the concentrated player activity around these cities. Depending on the number of players in the city, a horde of zombies would invade the city from multiple sides. To please to both PvE'ers and PvP'ers, your actions toward other players would bring benefits and costs:

Say you kill a player, you will take his ammunition because you don't trust him to keep you alive when the zombies come. However, killing that same player has attracted more zombies to town, which you will have to handle. On the other hand, you might have kept this stranger alive near you, because of the extra set of eyes. In the end, both of you could be walking out of there alive...unless you crossed him, because sh*t happens.  :|

This could be attached to the barricading system, to allow for some antecipation setup of some sort.

I think it would create a necessity that for now, doesn't seem to exist.

I know it's soon, and things will probably change; things that hopefully will create this feeling of constant threat, that keep you going and choosing: right / wrong / good for me.

So, that's it, I hope I kept it short. If somehow I missed any post that is related to this subject, I apologize, and so let me know.

What are your thoughts on this? Can it go wrong somehow or ruin the experience in any way?

Thanks for reading.
