new player since 2 weeks just my opinion.

Hi all,

 

I've been playing 2 weeks now this game after playing another zombie game wich is called nether since i did not like the way they where going with there patches i needed to find a decent other game and bought dayz after looking different youtube video's (mr blackout, frankie, etc).

 

 

First time i had a gun (sks) and some decent prestine ammount of ammo when i somehow fell of a building but i am sure i clicked the go climb down arrow in a good way but oke the ground and my head on that said i was dead.

 

Since i am new to this game i always try to go on low pop servers (max 15 players) with a good ping so i dont have to worry to much about other players and i can learn the towns, the way zombie moves, wich building contains guns, medics, food, water and other, so far this worked out for me since i now have a decent gun and decent ammo + scope + pistol once more: for new players when lost just go in steam browser to http://dayzdb.com/map/chernarusplus to see where u are, and if u really lost like i was a couple of times just keep following a road (the bigger the better) and eventually u will come in a town.

 

 

Since the last patch (this was my first update patch) i noticed sometimes u hear sounds of reloading, eating or zombies but when u look arround u can't see any person or zombie near u so that is very strange, i read on this forum allot of people have been in the same situation and hopefully this will get fixed with the next update, also i dont like the fact zombies can run trough walls but they cant run down a hill.

 

a few questions:

 

 

- i like to see buildings from a far distance in a good condition meaning no blurry buildings, can someone tell me wich setting i need to set higher to see  ? cause i feel sometimes i see them good and on another server there blurry again from a big distance (strange), and maybe i overlook an option or a setting or something else

 

- is dayz releasing a patch every month ? or how many patches have there been so far ? do u guys like the way the game is comming togheter and where its heading to ? is it oke to say the dayz mod is an example for the dayz standalone ? or are the both heading up a different way ?

 

 

- whats your thoughts about zombies who can run trough walls and scare the shit out of u when u are looting and suddently u have company in the room :D

 

- some servers with decent ping for me have in the title: clan only, dont join, join = delete all: is this really true ? or do they just want a server with friends but why dont set a private key on it then cause i see sometimes servers with a key to login, wich would be nice a private server cause u can loot all u want and u dont have to be afraid to die due to other players with bad intentions.

An answer to the last point.

All servers are public which means that you have the right ti join any server you can find. Sincr there are no private servers people who want to play with ftiends only or use the server as a loot farm place mostly "join = kick, KOS=kick, join = drleted char, and that kind of stuff in the title to discourage other players to join the server.

These servers are against the rules of hosting a dayz server and can be reported to the hosting company (i think).

Oh yeah about the zombies running through walls. It's *bleep* annoying but you'll get used to it.

These are primarily issues that are a result of the game being in Alpha.

 

Your "blurry" vision issue may be the result of a number of things. Make sure Bloom and Rotational Blur are all the way down in your video settings.  Blurred vision is a side effect of being hurt, but is dependent on the "bloom" setting in your video settings.  Sometimes, when you join a server, if you are injured, you may need to open your video settings for it to recognize that your "bloom" is all the way down.

 

 

They aren't very regular with their updates, sometimes it's one month, sometimes its two... but they have lots of planned mechanics being implemented soon and they expect to be in to a stable Beta stage before the end of the year.

Yes, you can report those assholes, but it's a bureaucratic nightmare.  Mounds of red tape to cut through.  I'm talking out my ass, but for real, some dick hole admins will kick even though it is against the rules set forth by Bohemia Interactive et al.  Just stay away from those.  I only recently found that buildings that are less than a Kilometer away appear untextured.  It might be a bug, or just an optimization that hasn't happened yet.

 

On that point, the Alpha is all about Content.  For some reason there exist a horde of entitled cry babies that assume that since they decided to pay for an Alpha release that they would add stuff, then make it perfect and shiny and new, and the add some more stuff, then make THAT perfect and shiny.  But alas, as has always been, optimization occurs after all the content is added.  If you add stuff after you fix stuff, things can get messed up again. 

 

I look at it like my future workout plans.  Currently my body is in Alpha, so I am cramming it full of delicious food.  Om Nom Nom (1911 added)  Om Nom Nom (.22 Rifle added) Om Nom Nom (Hunting).  I am full to the brim of awesome stuff.  Yeah yeah, in the future, I will go into Beta phase, which is me working on the architecture* surrounding all that glorious goodness I added for a year( the flabby body) and I will make it Shiny and Perfect and nothing will walk through things they shouldnt. 

 

But again, that is in Beta and the future.  Right now we are gluttons for new stuff to use on each other.  So if something messes up, dont worry, it will be fixed.  Just get over it.  I had a mosin that, once spray painted, only held one round!  That was rather annoying, so what I did was head to Elektro and pick people off left and right until I was taken out by a guy with an axe.  Good times.

 

Also, make sure to give Hardcore a try.  Once you get used to it, I swear you wont go back.  Also join one of the many amazing clans, or one of the even more numerous douchey clans (I kid with you clans. For fun, because it's alpha).

 

Also make sure your HDR is on LOW and your Brightness and Gamma are maxed at night.  Otherwise you are the one tool on a full server walking around Kamyshovo with your flashlight beam flagging down bandits for miles around.

thanks for the intel muddyracoon, jup its not hard for a company to delete those server the title says it all no ? ;-)
