Apocrypha8 54 Posted March 24, 2014 This was one of my first really organic trust vs teamwork friend vs foe situation. I spawned into the hotel in Elektro(Across from firestation) on a 40/40 server. There was a dead body in front of me with like a mosin and some stuff on it. I waited a second and saw a bambi run upstairs and then proceed to eat a can of tuna. I surprised him and said: "Hey buddy"; he was like: "Don't shoot, im a fresh spawn im just eating some tuna" I proceeded to tell him its fine, and he then told me about dudes with guns out there. Just then shit started to get real, so I told the dude to come take this dead guys stuff so he can defend himself. He was shocked that I was allocating him such trust, the ability to take my life. We trusted each other. He went into the one room that you can see the firehouse roof from, and watched it. Soon a third player came about, and seemed friendly enough. I told him to keep his distance, he explained that he was getting shot at by someone down there with a mosin. He parted, then he started to get held up/about to get shot. He told the dude where we were( i heard faintly over DC), and that guy came and was waiting for us. I told the third guy that the dude wasnt me. Then someone was shouting; he was like: "help me!" like numerous times, and we were like; "NOPE". After a 5 minute standoff the third person came back and KO punch'd the dude and took his shit. The guy had a mosin and was waiting for us to come down. The dude earned his place and we exchanged steam names. The third dude assured me he would add me through recent players(has not yet been done). As I was about to open/share some food, and then go take up the sniper up near the hay bails, the server restarted. It was terrible. Such a perfectly played organic situation.
Aamunkajo 110 Posted March 24, 2014 Thats the best side of DayZ. Got these situations every now and then, must say: WORTH IT!
Weedz 1105 Posted March 24, 2014 (edited) Me and my group that has been together for over 10 years met two people like this in the mod and have been hanging with them for over a year now. One of them we were all cruising down the road like a bike gang on bicycles and saw him running down the road so we all started circling him trying to run him over and he started talking to us and we started talking back; and then a giant ass explosion (probably one of the biggest in DayZ histry) happened like just out of our sight so we all run over even this new guy and it was some hackers "base" who had just teleported every single vehicle on the server, including the boats and choppers (this was on a super vehicle server too), and like 99% of them had blown up and he killed himself. We then played with this new guy for a bit longer, got into one of the like 2 vehicles that hadn't blown up, and eventually invited him onto our coms and he became our friend. The other one was a friendly who didn't have his gun out and I was a new spawn so I ran up and pretended I couldn't talk and was crouched shaking my head yes and no to his questions. I was then secretly sneaking into his backpack on the inventory screen and found a handy little M1911 and some ammo and stole it and robbed him with his own gun. He thought this was hilarious and so did I as it was a complete spur of the moment I wonder if this will work thing so I started playing with him and eventually invited him in too. We've been happily "accidentally" killing each other and robbing newbs ever since. Edited March 24, 2014 by Weedz
randomspawn 215 Posted March 24, 2014 I died by glitchy wall in the firestation yesterday. I spawned and after a while, made my way to west Electro. While I had some canned goods, I couldn't open them and I needed to regenerate some health. I met a somewhat geared fellow who gave me a fireaxe, 22 pistol and a screwdriver. What a nice gesture. I ended up dumping the 22 later, but the fireaxe and the memories will be with me always...or intil I glitch off the stairs again.
Apocrypha8 54 Posted March 25, 2014 Yeah, this rarely ever happens sadly. It's mostly KoS. You could tell by their voices they had good intentions, but its the best part of DayZ.

This is the part of this game that some meat-wads will never get. ^^^^^ IMO if people are too thick to see that they don't deserve the really rewarding experiences to be had in DayZ. Made a ton of friends in the mod by just trolling around the coast in a vehicle and giving newspawns a ride wherever they wanted. Got bored of the Death match mentality ages ago. Hopefully by the end of the Beta most of the A.D.D. clowns will have moved on to the next flavour of the month BattleCall of Field Duty NaziZombies7.... I could give a fuck about some scrub in the bushes/3pp hospital roof with his niper rifle, I've killed so many of those tards it becomes boring. My point is that they are in the long run only doing a disservice to their own experience of DayZ by not taking a chance and interacting. Most of my best experiences from the mod onward have been totally unexpected encounters where one party took a chance and didn't immediately KOS resulting in some crazy adventures. It was a stroke of genius on Rockets part to have people participate in a truly open alpha as the game will change so much that inevitably so will the players. Here's hoping. Here's hoping. The pure emotions that DayZ can evoke are unlike any other games. It's a truely rewarding(as far as game feeling) feeling when you have almost real player experiences. When people just camp and KoS, it just ruins the game for other people. It seems the most honest people I meet on DayZ are ones that are new to the game, they are fresh and haven't been 'traumatized' or 'turned' yet. I mostly look for an oppertunity to interact, but sometimes I get scared and KoS. I like to stalk people and watch their intentions before I(we) engage(I usually have a buddy or two with me).
