Reading through posts i have come across players who play like heros, bandits, medics, etc. Last night i played slightly differently, moving around and not be seen, using your surroundings. I had 3 guys run past me meters away, one guy stoped to drink a can of soda. Few freshies ran past me running from zombies, not even zombies saw me. Didnt kill anyone, although might have to get rid of my sks as it sticks out too much. All this happened on the outskirts of solichniyi. I used tree roots, tall bushes, even a pond (was completely soaked). I played on a full server, so it was pretty easy to come across players. Its slightly harder to do it in towns as most coastal towns have a large hill that contains kos bandits with snipers, sitting there for hours, so they have a clear view.

But the three stooges were funniest, they tried to play full army style, they spoke as soldiers "watch my flank", "zombie at 12 o'clock" even tried to run in a v formation, keep distance away. Not realising they were watched.

Wish they will include more obstacles in towns such as broken cars on roads.

If you want to really feel like a ninja, punch players with your fists one time when they aren't watching and then run to cover before they can react fast enough to see you (only tried this on hardcore. Might not work on regular).

You'll feel like a total boss when they start yelling blindly in your direction with no idea where you are or what you are going to do next. It was better with throwable cans and bottles in the mod but punches work too.

It would be too hard as 3rd person view offers a better view, but you did give me an idea. Just now i logged in a fuller server, still solicnniyi. In a corner, tall fence. I heard footsteps, two players running towards me on the other side of the fence, as they got closer i let out a howl like a wolf. They stopped, one guy said " what the f**k was that, what the f**k" "did they add wolves".

Ha ha im having too much fun. It didnt matter that i got killed few minutes later, i have found my way of playing dayz

Over the top zombie growling and grunting can scare newer players too. I was rendezvousing with a new player and stood outside of the garage he was waiting in making those noises for easily five minutes while he frantically asked the rest of the group (waiting and watching from the nearby cluster of trees) what to do. After they had him convinced it was a glitched out bloodsucker, I charged in and knocked him unconscious with a few crowbar swings to the head. Good times.

A guy in my group has a blood-curdling zombie scream that makes the in-game zombie sounds sound like kittens dancing in daisies.  He charged at a group of two guys as a bambi doing it one time.  He managed to take one of them with his fists and the other guy just stopped and said "I don't even care if I die, that was frickin hillarious!"

 

If I just heard the noise he makes and couldn't see him or a zombie (or a rabbit) I would just hard kill my laptop.  Nope nope nope.
