Jonah_Hobbes 171 Posted March 26, 2014 I feel like the zombies are just cheap now. They follow you for way too long, and if you're unarmed (or even armed), it's just an annoyance to deal with them. If you stop to axe one, another will invariably spawn already aggro'd on you. Rounding corners just makes them clip through the buildings and keep coming after you, an even bigger reminder that they can ignore structures and you can't. They'd be less of a hassle once melee isn't so wonky, but that might be 11 months from now. But then fixing the melee combat will somehow give everybody terrible desync and may cause duct tape to kill the user if they accidentally clicked the middle mouse button on it in the inventory screen. Because reasons. Yeah but you are much less likely to aggro them with a fireaxe. I was looting a small town near Stary, killed a Z with the axe and a few more spawned and I just quietly went around and knocked them off before exiting town. OK I picked up one when leaving but the key is currently is to loot 2-3 buildings max and then get the f*ck out of Dodge. What is a concern is the Ninja-silent zombies that appeared when I exited a building - nasty.
ld-airgrafix 403 Posted March 26, 2014 They are just too fast now, a rotting corpse cant move that fast. Everytime i log in i get different gameplay when killing them. The other day i was able to fight 4 zombies by dodging their attacks, last night i couldnt kill 1. I would get hit even when standing behind it. Dodging did nothing. This is exactly the same as ISS zombies. They ran after me into a house but when they walk through a wall they glitch through the floor, and i have noticed at this stage they are powerless, i walk up to one, it took 6 hits from a crowbar to kill it. Now try connecting 6 good hits outside where they run and jump like an olympic athlete and can bleed you as long as they charge, regardless where you are. No im not complaining about how hard they are but how glitchy they are. Glitching through walls should have been solved before they even released an alpha. It's not a rotting corpse though, it's an infected human. I dunno what folk are moaning about, they are now about as hard as they were in the Mod. I think it makes it more interesting. Guns now are for bandits and axes are for killings Z's.

Nothing functions except the brain, which would cause the body to rot and decay faster, if a zombie apocalypse was to happen, it would never reach apocalyptic proportions, as they would be barely able to crawl. In 28 days later (right now dayz zombies are closely related to this movie), they are not zombies, its a virus like rabies which causes a person to go mad. But asides from terminology, i dont care if they make zombies 10 times harder, but give us some protection by closing doors and barricading ourselves in. Atm we just have to run away, no strategy involved.

My point was that from what I've read The Infected are still very much alive like 28 days or to a lesser extent Romero's The Crazies, (the remake sucks). You can't really define what a zombie will or won't be. Brooks navigated the whole dead falling to pieces thing by letting the virus offer the dead some protection from decay, (think the virus slows it), Hence they could last for years. in Romero films zombies can be killed. In the O'Bannon film they are pretty much impossible to kill unless you incinerate them. From what I remember, been years since I seen them, Fulci's zombies were pretty hard to kill also. In Frankenstein the reanimated corpse looks like everyone else and in Lovecraft's awesomely funny Herbert West - Re-animator one of the dead carries his head around ("Jump, Ronald, for God's sake, jump!" - haha fantastic!) Clark Ashton Smith in the Colussus of Ylourgne had the dead... ahh I won't spoil it for you... When I was a lad there was more to zombies than just Romero, 28 days and The Walking Dead you know...grumble grumble. Basically you can't, without creating more of a back story, attribute any of the laws of physics to what a zombie/infected is or can do Edited March 27, 2014 by Jonah_Hobbes
