Voice communication

Recommended Posts

So I am now about 50 hours into the game, and I have yet to find one single person that will actually respond to you in any other fashion then shooting or running away, it's pretty sad. The only time I have ever heard anyone say anything on voice it was "friendly" and that was it (he didn't carry a gun obviously). So what does it take to actually be able to interact with people in other ways than shooting at them in DayZ standalone.

I aways read "when more features are added in" on here but I am not so sure. I guess maybe it holds some truth as there is not a whole not of reasons to do any trading, since there just isn't enough gear to trade for or with. It's just a bit boring to gear up and then hunt people down, and thats it.

Players are friendly as long as they don't have a weapon or are in distance to hit you with their fists or as long as you don't show them your back. We have a lot of douche bags in game and that will not change, the only thing that can push them out of the game is the path the SA seems to take and hopefully also the vanilla mod until players like me are satisfied where the SA went and buy it. And there are people like you who learn the hard way of risk everything just to commmunicate with others and sometimes find a soulmate.

It completely depends on the people. If you've got 50 hours, and you play (assumingly) on high populated servers, and haven't found a single person who communicated, apart from that one guy, you've had some bad luck. Frankly, communicating is a huge risk in its self, you have no idea how the other person will react to a - "Hello there, friendly! How are you?".

I remember this one time when I was bleeding and I just couldn't find any bandage or rags, I saw two guys, one of them had a rifle, in Berezino fighting off some zombies in a field. I decided to try my luck and see if they could help me, I ran up to them with my weapon on my back and started talking to them, they responded and were just generally good people who talked in a friendly way and helped me with my bleeding problem. After that we gave each other some stuff, said farewell, and went on with our lives.

Now, this could've ended badly for me, but I was lucky who took the gamble because otherwise I would've probably bled out.

Well I've got about 120 hours in and I've met some decent players, so not all are bad. Yes we still have those players who think this a giant game of team death match but just keep trying, they are out there. In most instances for me, if I meet someone and I'm unarmed, people seem to be less hostile but if I'm armed and they are as well then its a 50/50 shot that things will go sideways.

With the changes that have transpired or that are going to, I think you will see more people willing to communicate with each other instead of letting their guns talk. I don't mean the whole server eating beans and singing campfire songs but a few good people trying to work towards a common goal, which is surviving. Just my 2 cents

I have people I play with on regular basis, I am not looking for a soulmate :P. I do understant the risks as well, and without them what fun would the game be? At least for now, and probably always, the only real threath is other people, and it should be that way. To me though, some of the fun is risking something in interaction with other players, other than having your bullets miss, but it just can't happen if there is no reward ever. Maybe I have just been unlucky, and with unlucky, and by that I don't mean getting killed, unlucky to not get a respons at all, other than having people run away or shoot. I try to have the upper hand obviously before approaching, and I have never been approached myself other than with bullets.

Well I am not looking for a licking, and I tested my ingame voice with my friends, and they can hear me from a reasonable distans :).

I do stick to high to medium populated servers.
