QUAZIMOFO 275 Posted March 21, 2014 Recently I have been getting a kind of rippling effect on my monitor while playing, I think due to refresh rate perhaps. My monitor is a 42" LED 120hz. I dont get this rippling effect any other time, just during DayZ and only when moving and usually only on the bottom half of the monitor.Since the video options dont include refresh rate does anyone have any ideas? swartz23 4 Posted March 21, 2014 I get something like this as well, usually after running for awhile, everything looks wavy. Like to hear what people have come up with as well.
rustledmyjimmies 361 Posted March 21, 2014 Are you using a DVI adapter for your graphics card?
QUAZIMOFO 275 Posted March 21, 2014 Come to think of it this started happening when I hooked up my second monitor. Main monitor is hdmi but 2nd monitor is using regular adapter. Vid card is a GTX580
Snivel 12 Posted March 21, 2014 Don't search any further, it's not a technical problem, nor a problem (imo) it's simply an in-game effect to simulate being winded or tired from running a certain distance. The feature was already implemented in Arma 2 (In "real" game, not only in dayz) and also in Arma 3. When this begins to happen just stop running for a certain time, and i'm sure by the time your character don't breathe heavily anymore the waving effect will be gone ! I never had this issue before but it only just started recently. This has nothing to do with an in-game effect. Enabling VSync helped a little bit but I'm still getting it. SpudGun (DayZ) 13 Posted March 21, 2014 Your 42" LED isn't "real" 120hz so if you are trying to run it at that you will have problems, also running two different refresh rates is known to cause issues.
