how will this zombie tracking work then?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone understand this business that if you shoot a zombie it remembers you and tracks you every time it spawns, does this mean that very area you go into if that type of zombie spawns it starts to track towards you? what if someone else has killed the same type of zombie also, which one of you will it track? does it work up until server restart?

I think he's talking about the zombies that respawn in your radius if you kill a zombie with a firearm (i'm sure you have seen them).

They are attracted to the position of the gunshot sound, and not the position of the player,as i mistakenly thought.

Yes they will be constantly tracking towards you if you don't use a melee or a silenced-low sound weapon to take them out.

If you use melee weapons i think you should be good.

But let's be honest, zombies right now

are a joke, they need to bring back

The visual/acoustic detection

system back IMO.

Yep any zombie killed will respawn and if it hears a gunshot it will head towards you.

It is not, as some people have interpreted, a way for zombies to hunt you down from the NWAF to the beach after you have have been killed and respawned.....though that does sound quite cool in a way.

Or rather, if your weapon makes noise when zombies respawn they will respawn with knowledge of where the location of the shots occurred.
If you use something that does not make noise (such as a melee weapon) then this will not happen.
Edit: I must remind people this implementation is place-holder only, in the strongest sense of that term. Expect the zombie spawning, collision, and behavior to be fully up for revision as an entirely new separete team is currently looking at this.

Shoot and move and you have a chance to get away before they aggro.

Very hard to do at the close range that zombies spawn right now.

well they did kinda make them hunt in the mod didn't they as an anti camp mechanic?  zombies that you spawned would generally move towards your area, so I got the impression they were now going to remember who killed them and do the same kinda thing.
