It's not huge, but it's a thing.

Basically, you aren't allowed certain characters in your name anymore. []() ect.. being a few examples. Well, let's say your name is Brandon and you join a game with another Brandon. You then become "Brandon (2)" and get kicked after a few seconds for having "()" in your name even though the game gave you it. Avoid this by having names that it's unlikely someone else will have (like your alias, mine being Kihz).
