Need help with walkie talkie

So guys, i need your help. first of all, fully charged battery is inserted in my pristine walkie talkie. when i rightclick it, it shows me the menu, but every line where there should be the text with channel xx.x and so on is black, only the last line saying "inspect" has a white text in it...

Google and forum-search didn't help me :(

Have you tried verifying your game cache? Sounds like some buggy texture files on your end.

will try it, but i have that since ever and switched like 5-6 times from experimental to normal and back the last week.. but maybe it didn't get replaced during that

I haven't personally found a walkie, but my friends never seem to have problems with them.

validating didn't find anything :( also its the only item with this problem :(

Hmm.. I'd say uninstall and re-install if you have the time to. May solve it. Not really sure what's going on  :(

i got the same problem with the walkie-talkie, i didn't find any solution to this, i just tested the function of each button and tried to use it "blind"

 

it's been a while, but i think the buttons were "1: On/Off, 2: Channel Up (or Down), 3: Channel Down (or Up, i'm not sure at this :D), 4: Take out Batteries and 5: Inspect... something like this

YOUR BATTERY IS DEAD....

 

 

 

It can be pristine and still be dead. Always carry two...You get a free one when you spawn. Save it.

 

 

Same goes for flash lights. If you leave either on for 1-2hrs (last patch) it would die. At the time you could then swap batteries from the flashlight into the walki and vice versa. Doing so would turn your dead battery back to New but only for the new flashlight/walki you put it in.

 

Can't take it from your flashlight and put it in your walki then put it back in your flashlight.

 

Being a new patch you probably need a spare now...

Hate to say it but you should kill a new spawn to be sure you have a full battery lol

Well, that's one poor soul spared then. I think it's some sort of glitch that's causing this, try dropping it and picking it up again.

ok did some testing, i think its some problem with languages. i am from austria (german language) and when i drop it to the ground i get a new option in the right-click-menu saying "walkie talkie nehmen" which is german for "take walkie talkie"... most of my other messages from the other items are english (like "use", "inspect", "unload"...).

further more i noticed the same missing elements when i rightclick directly on my mosin and my fnx, only the last option "inspect" has text, but about three options are just withouth any text above...

Tried finding an option for choosing english as the game language but there was no such option like in many other games on steam...

Any ideas?

So its solved!!!! did some google with my new findings!!!!!! you have to change the language in the .cfg file in your "My documents/DayZ". There it says language "german" and i had to change to "English"!!!!

Maybe a mod could change the title to "-solved" so any others with the same problem thinking its some "alpha-thing" can look it up?
