Rule 1: If you see player with gas mask and ballistic helmet, try to avoid at any cost or if you have a gun just kost instantly!

Rule 2: Camping with a sniper on top of some building in elektro is not very intelligent. So many campy bambi snipers have died there (might be because of the fact that I am shooting at them)

Rule 3: Never ever log out in military building

Rule 4: Running middle of the road is tactic that very few HC MLG 1337 DayZ players use

Rule 5: Just dont, please dont sprint to stairs

Rule 6: You can kill zombies by punching them, but I suggest you to run by doubletapping W

Rule 7: It is smart to drink and eat to the point where your character doesnt bitch about it

Dude just cause they have a mask and ballistic helmet means you should KOS that's just their gear they like.....I'll never give you my beans I hope people know this is a bad guide and there's a lot better out there.

Lots of hero type players wear stuff that blends them in with their surroundings and protects them from being killed... aka ballistic helmet, gas masks prevent sickness and realistically if I was involved in a zombie apocalypse I'd wear a gas mask all the time to protect myself from airborne infection.  I'm really looking forward to some role playing servers.  The rule of thumb, if they shoot at you kill them, they are obviously bad.  If they are trying to knock you out and take your shit, kill them.  KOS is for people that just want to be dicks.  The game is built in such a way that no one really wants to die, so if you get the drop on someone you can really have a great advantage on them.  Yesterday I held up two people, my buddy tried to be a dick but I was the only one with ammo and I helped the two out, gave them ammo helped them get geared out and get food.  We all played together for 8 hours and me and one of the players I held up yesterday were killing kos bandits in electro just now.  Smartest thing to do if your a noobie is to run inland in search of food (especially if on a populated server)  Now with there being weapons in police stations pretty much every town can get you geared out.  Piano houses are good places too.  If you have a gun and ammo for it, always keep it in your hands if there is someone else armed around you.  Be wary of everyone, even if they say they are friendly because they could just be lying to get your guard down.  Remember, if you see one person they ALWAYS have a buddy.  Even if they don't expect it.  Its common to see people travelling in groups up to 5 players.  All in all its a straight forward game, get loot & survive.  PVP is the hardest part about this game because every situation is so intense.  It took ten minutes for the adrenalin to wear off from holding up my two new friends yesterday.  Thankfully they were not armed with anything other then a pipe wrench and a crowbar.
