Demoth 366 Posted March 17, 2014 This is a rant / whine thread, so no need for alpha reminders as I have already gone to the bug tracker and up voted every report about this. I'm aware Dean acknowledged this and has plans to change it.Still, they need to change this bullet damage BS to clothing and gear ASAP. I can't wrap my head around how they thought it would reduce KOS.Every time I decide to become a KOS jerk, I could give less then a crap about the gear of the guy in killing. I'm just trying to be a dick until I'm eventually gunned down.Yet when I'm taking the roll of newb protector / hero / explorer, some asshole ambush artist will hit me a few times before I can run to cover, assuming I don't die.Last night I was trying to circle Elektro to get to Kamyshovo to meet a friend new to the game. I run into a dude on the coast with an SKS and he immediately fires on me despite my gun away. No biggie. I simply hide the circle back and catch him with his pants down as he was thinking I ran the other way.I kill him but he had a Mosin butt buddy who shoots me on the leg (I *think*). I take off running and realize my pants are ruined. All the food in them? Ruined. Then I noficed my backpack is ruined. My shirt? Ruined. Assault vest? Ruined. That 1 Mosin bullet ruined everything I had everything in them.I never went back for that guy because he was well concealed, but while shit. Apparently the only way this could have happened was if I was shot in the vest, into my shirt, in my chest and through my body, out my back and then into my backpack where the bullet ricocheted off of everything. The trauma then caused me to shit my pants, ruining them. And yet oddly, I was barely injured and didn't bleed.

Uutgrunnen 96 Posted March 17, 2014 I agree that the ruining of clothes and gear by one bullet is nonsense. One or two items ruined would be understandable and clothes being (badly) damaged also (so you can use sewing kit). People usely don't kill for the gear but just for the sport of killing or (in my case) because they are scared to sh*t by every noise and movement.
Window Licker 504 Posted March 17, 2014 You still get to walk away healthy and afaik it doesn't wreck your gun, food and clothing are generally fairly easy to get.

I finally got the right colored hoodie, and now I'm in literal rags.I was just annoyed, but in the grand scheme it's no biggie. Obviously being attached to gear is never good

Obviously being attached to gear is never good Yeah, but the mechanic is artificial and didn't really have the intended result, so I say they should tone it down heavily. A bullet is really small. The overall damage to your gear and stuff is going to be very small. It would hit at most, one thing anywhere but the backpack. In the backpack, it would hit a straight line, so maybe limit it to one row? Also, a gun probably isn't going to get thoroughly damaged by one shot, unless it hits exactly right.
