Territory Control

Will DayZ implement a contested territory for clans in the future?  Where you and your clan to fight to control an area and gain additional resources or earn rewards.  One thing I feel this game is missing is a reason for players to group up for the long-term.  Additionally, territory battles would help prevent this game from getting old.  What would World of Tanks be without Clan Wars?  How much more fun would DayZ be with Clan Wars?

 

Two things I'm hoping for in this game.  Territory control battles and clan bases (player housing) that can be used by the clan (think the prison in Walking Dead).

Alright, alright... Lemme be easy on you.

This isn't an arcade shooter. Everything that Dean wants is to be controlled by the player populace.

This being said, you can already control a territory. Just get some mates and start patrolling. It isn't hard.

Also, it'd be really cool if in the future, you could tag walls with spray paint. Y'know, mark gang territories.

its already in

you and your clan team thing take out all the zeds in an area

and then (if you have enough players) make patrols

they people will come to the town base area

and you chose to kill on sight or let them pass thru but not loot

 

other clans might try to get in so theres the fighting

and the additional rewards are the loot on their corpses!

That's true, but an official game territory control... where you can see a map and it'll indicate this section is controled by this clan... clans can form alliances and declare wars.

Dude... This isn't a Combat Game. It seems like you want it to be a bit like Minecraft Factions (Minus actaully claiming land)  but really... we Don't need clan wars. It will just make the game even more like Wasteland, but people will be bitching about being killed instead of teamkilled, and Lone-Wolfs and new players will be cut down in hoards, with only clans remaining, and since people in clans don't need help, or to team in any way, it will just be 10-Team Deathmatch. At that point, it won't even be a survival game.

 

this won't decrease KoS at all, or increase teaming, or anything like that. Clans like to kill everyone they see, especially fresh spawns and hero's. Clans virtaully never meet in-game, either. Plus, your maps shouldn't Auto-Update. 

 

Maybe this is just me but... i think it would be awsome if eventually we can mark stuff on maps, and after killing a guy he has a Customized map, with his custom marks and notes on it. Like, "Big group hanging out in this area alot" and "Raided base here" "Broken-down car" and maybe even "My base" 

As opposed to Battlefield/Cod style Maps with "Territories" and such.

These shenanigans are only credible when done contextually, with in game assets. Otherwise they feel forced and artificial. 

 

So imagine this: You're in a clan. You guys are the shit; you're powerful. You guys take over Berezino. You have a heli. Inside the heli are players with binders (not yet) full of papers (already implemented) advertising your takeover and a challenge to any rival gang to come and fight. The heli flies over the usual areas and these dudes drop these leaflets. In addition, you've got clan mates strategically placed around the map broadcasting the news on the walkies. 

 

My point is you don't need a bunch of realism breaking meta stuff going on to make this thing really shine.

Thats the type of thing i want to see. Problem is no one uses radio's and would just shoot down the heli.

I'm such a loser.

 

I continue to turn on my walkie, call out in direct, and cycle through those channels, in every big town I'm in. I must believe, lol.

 

The potential is so huge on all this.

 

Long term I want to see super-parallelized multiservers that support a single "map" of 10x the size of Chernarus with 500 players concurrent. That way you and yo dudes control some legitimate territory within a vast world that encourages long term game play versus the fleeting enjoyment of random skirmishes that the game currently offers.

This is why your clan must be the shit to pull this off. I never will. My shit ain't that good. This is why DayZ is compelling. Some people do stuff others can't.

 

I'll never be the clan throwing the leaflet out the window of the heli, but I'll probably be the random survivor to read it and expend the time to run to Berezino for what is sure to be an interesting happening.

Man.. i've always dreamed of a game like that. I thought i found it with DayZ, but the map just doesn't seem giant when you can tell where you are by a rock.

Mine is worse. I know them all irl. One doesn't get to play like at all, secound is Suicidal - He jumps out of my BTR going 75Km/h to attack a tank with a DMR, and only wants to PvP. And i always have bad luck with the third untill recently, when we have been tearing up epoch. And theres only been one time we've all been on at once

And only one has SA.

So i'm pretty much a lone wolf.

Probably right... just hope for it to happen sooner or later.  I can see myself getting bored of this game without more things to do (crafting, fort building, territory control).
