daisho 74 Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) So far, the only real option we have to check if someone was around recently is to see if the doors either are open or closed. I wonder if it would make sense to implement mechanics, that would show if someone was around/ travelled the same road recently. In a real world setting, you could find lots of evidence if someone was travelling the same path recently, like: * used soda/ bean cans* used bullets, bloodstains from firefights* excrements (either someone pissed against a tree or had the urge to shit in the middle of a living room)* flattened gras, especially if a bigger group was running along* tracks in forrest soil* maybe campsites that still emit some heat* maybe bird swarms or deer would try to flee if someone was approaching near them or they hear gunshots* noises/ conversations (if there would be no TS and people would use ingame voice only it would be a huge step forward already)* either fresh or dried blood stains if someone took a hit from a bullet or Zed in a city* freshly chopped wood* fresh blood from hunted animals* maybe vultures or crows flying over/ near heavily wounded and dying people (so you can either find them to help or finish them off) I bet there is trained military personal or survivalists in here that can come up with a lot more things, that would show evidence, that someone either is or was around in a certain timeframe and I'd love to have something like this implemented in the game. I personally would have A LOT more fun doing the stealth game if I could find/ look for evidence if someone was around, especially when the numer of slots per server will get increased. Also: it would be a nice option to maybe find someone again you/ one of your teammates just was in a firefight with, as he might leave a trail of blood unless he bandages right away in the open field. QbitzR 157 Posted March 14, 2014 (edited) * used soda/ bean cans* flattened gras, especially if a bigger group was running along* noises Already have this. When proning the grass gets flattened. There are noises from metal gates squaking, birds etc. Blood tracks is the only thing in the list that deserves attention and im confident it will be added eventually. Railsplitter84 45 Posted March 14, 2014 Sometimes when you eat or drink though the cans are just used up. You should ALWAYS get a 0% can left over in your inventory after eating or drinking, then you have to choose to carry your trash out to dump in the woods, or just leave it wherever you are to freak people out if you know you're not coming back there! Zer0HD2 (DayZ) 40 Posted March 14, 2014 The 0% thing only happens if you use the eating method where you just spam-eat/drink until it says there is nothing left. I agree, it should always happen, the can shouldn't just disintegrate.

I agree, it should always happen, the can shouldn't just disintegrate. Cans should definitely not disappear, I completely agree with this. Can can be used to boil water or possibly catch rain water in the future.I feel it's just to help performance atm and will change later.Maybe the reason for the bug that leaves the cans at 0% in your inventory is because they are supposed to stay but have been temporarily disabled until performance is gained. Possibly like the bayonet glitch? Though I doubt that bug has anything to do with performance. Edited March 14, 2014 by TEST_SUBJECT_83
akafugitive 244 Posted March 14, 2014 I think the smoldering camp fires is a good idea when they implement camp fires. If food will cool over time maybe fires do the same and will leave glowing embers for awhile. I dont think fires should be able to be put out like turning off a light switch a lo and should require some water to put out

I personally didn't come across any 0% cans so far, even though I sometimes had some in my inventory after eating they stiill disappeared when I dropped them. Window Licker 504 Posted March 15, 2014 the thing with 0% can's is they take server resources to maintain, I have also noticed I leave wet footprints on the ground if I'm wet or something I forget the exact situation. Adding things like the water pump being wet under the faucet if it's been used recently. The Campfires is a good idea too, plus the option to reignite it would be helpful if you can't find matches and a touch risky in case someone was coming back.
