Dieing on alttab.

What happened: I died after alttabbing. I am sure noone was near, no zombies reached me and noone shot me as I have a dual screen and didnt see anything but random instant death (this has happened in random wilderness as well)

Where you were: Indoors in Elektro somewhere.

What you were doing: Alttabbing to read the Day Z wiki.

*Your system specs: Intel i5-2400 Quadcore, NVIDIA GTS 450.. everything is new and up to date, not the cause of this error either:)

i had this happen too not too long ago. i wasnt alt tabbed but i do often alt tab.

Happened to me on my 30 day character, alt-tabbed out with menu open. Sometimes respawn is highlighted on the menu leading to you accidentally kiling yourself, or if you click rather than alt-tabbing back in there is a chance that you click respawn when it loads back up.

lol a guy had this happen just now. alt tabbed, came back, about 15 sec later a z hit him and it was a 1hit kill

Happened to me yesterday. Alt+tabbed for maybe 4 seconds, tops. Was in the forest about 200 yards outside of Dolina. Couldn't have been a zed, although maybe a very skilled sniper might have spotted me through a small gap in the trees, but highly unlikely.

When you alt-tab your GPU stops rendering, so the picture freezes. Somebody probably shoot you.

It could've been that a zombie spawned within range while you were tabbed out. Happened to me before. I tabbed back in and was standing up, grey screen, dead. I was clueless. But I went all the way (Stary Sobor) to my body and recovered every single item, so of course it wasn't a player in my case because I had a coyote backpack, antibiotics, GPS, M9 SD, all sorts of goodies on me.

Happend to me aswell, alt tabbed out to check upon something came back in and I saw my char dying at once. And it coulndt be any other player or zombies as I was protected by 4 people in the middle of no where In our camp. No gunshot nothing.

When you alt-tabbed you had your mouse hovering over the respawn button

Because of how arma handles input when you clicked the arma2OA icon in the taskbar to go back into game, you died because the game registered a keypress.

When you alt-tab out, make sure you dont click to get back into game use alt-tab to get back into the game aswell.

The respawn "accident" that others have described is possible but I have never heard of that or experienced that in all my years of playing Arma and Arma2. On a regular Arma2 fight night I ALT TAB out quite often and add that up hundreds of times and by thousands when taking into account friends and group members and it not occuring in our experience a single time...That is VERY UNLIKELY.

The most likely explanation is that you THOUGHT you were safe and someone was tracking you.

Even more likely, a zombie had a long distance track on you and followed or took time to come through door etc and killed you. Once you were dead it no longer remained spawned in that area and when you came back you didn't see it.

ALT TAB'in in Elektro or Cherno is very very very BAD idea. You are being watched, even if you think you aren't, you are.

Just happened to me, alt tabbed out in the middle of the woods, clanmates in TS tell me i died, only clanmates in our servers.

I didn't hit escape before I tabbed, and my debug menu said i had 11k blood, so WTF.

I've had this happen twice.

First time on the coast with my 50cal in hand, well away from Zombies. I alt-tabbed to check dayzdb for something..

Tabbed back in and hear my 50cal fire by itself.. This obviously attracted every fucking Zombie in a half km radius.

Second time, same situation, this time was with an AKM in hand at NWAF. Both times was only person on server.

AGGRO ALL THE ZOMBIES!!1!

Died today from alt+tabbing today. I was at least 5k+ meters away from any civilization. Proned under a tree with a gillie suit on and it's pitch black dark, but I doubt anyone could see even with night vision unless they walked up on top of me. I alt tabbed for 15-20 seconds, then my friend tells me I died. He checks for my body and can't find it. I'm thinking either a really bad despawn bug or a hacker. The only way someone could have killed me that quickly is if they have been tracking me since I logged in, and I logged in the middle of the wilderness.

P.S. There was a strange occurrence when logging on to that server. I was missed placed around 3k meters from where I logged out. Didn't notice until I tried to find my friend and noticed I was in a different location. Server was CA 12.
