i never carry canteens or sodas /liquid on me. i usually drink from streams or ponds.

 

if i do use a spig, i look around first. with grass not rendering, ive spotted plenty of people waiting to snipe me. be alert. lots of douche canoes on the servers with long ranges.

So... in the past four weeks, I somehow kept getting killed surpisingly often at wells or fountains or whatever they're called. Tulga, Balota, Kamenka. (Elektro and Cherno wasn't that surprising.) And a couple of other small towns as well. Most of the times I was able to hear at least a gunshot, other times it just goes all black and 'you are dead'.

 

But seriously - is there someone sniping at popular "gathering spots" like fountains instead of stalking rooftops now? Seems like a nice strategy to KOS, you don't even have to be that far away in most cases. But it just has picked up so much in recent weeks that I am starting to wonder...

 

Anybody else had this happen? Or did anyone actually try to snipe folks who are looking for a drink of water?

 

I've been whacked by crazy axe murderers at water pumps TWICE! Not surprising, if dickheads know you have to go to a certain spot, they'll always camp it.

Because that strategy is so easy street there is no way people will not catch on. Almost everyone I know hits the water well if its nearby.. gotta top off the hydration tank! And since people routinely stay at the well for at least 30 seconds, still in one place drinking.. its like the easiest shot you could take. 

 

 

This is the only reason to carry canteens. If you have the canteen ready, it takes 2-3 seconds to fill it, and then you're gone!

nah, never been killed while drinking/gathering...sounds like a pretty dick move, but hey...half the player's comunnity are dicks. I've found some survivor at these spots but usually we just share water and then be on our separate ways

Dang it, Irish, I didn't even think of that. Then again, the general idea already exists, so I hope this wasn't oil into the fire. I also think it's a total butthead move, cause in the Kamyshovo area I was nothing but a fresh spawn, with a checked shirt and a hard hat.

 

I have weened myself off gear-hoarding so I didn't lose much and wasn't butthurt about losing what I had. I just got a little aggroed that I had been alive for maybe about 20 minutes and having to start over already again.

Theres more than enough streams lakes and ponds in the inland area that u should never need to go to a spigot ever

 

Not at the moment, but in the near future you'll have to carry plenty of water purifying tabs to do that.

I think you're being overly generous. It's closer to 90% :).
