Zippos and Lighter Fluid

I propose adding another fire source in addition to the matches. A zippo with a finite amount of fluid. Zippos and lighter fluid could spawn in addition to the matchboxes.

 

It would work the same, but instead of carrying a box of matches with you, you'd just have to carry the zippo and spare lighter fluid.

 

I'm not sure if it is in the works, but if wind becomes a factor then the last thing I would want to use to make a fire would be matches. Not only that, but with the addition of being able to get wet, if that matchbox gets wet then they are practically done for. A zippo on the other hand can stay lit in most windy conditions. Not to mention the case itself protects against it getting wet in most cases. Obviously it'll get wet and not light if you submerge the zippo for a period of time, but in most instances of standard use it would still function properly.

 

Should the zippo become extremely wet then there would have to be a set amount of time it wouldn't work while it is drying out.

 

Also, I think it would be good to have some standard BIC lighters as well. Not as durable as a zippo, and not refillable (for balance purposes). They would also be more prone to wind gusts. Naturally the BICs and matchboxes would be more common than the zippos.

 

I'm sure using sticks to make fire will also be introduced, but I'd only use that method as a last ditch effort.

 

Granted the game is about survival and such, but it's silly to think that the apocalypse would simultaneously eradicate all lighters.

Well we dont have any joints or cigs to use to lit them up yet so i dont see the flame lasting long.

Good idea, disposable lighters could be available as well, with a finite number of lightings.

Also,zippos and lighters in general,can be used as an alternative

source of light.So it would be a good idea,to start off with a BIC lighter instead,

and make the flashlight rarer.

I like the OPs suggestion and this one, perhaps we could also craft a torch (I would say out of rags and a stick but that already makes a splint) maybe out of a splint and lighter fluid?
