Fitness

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to start a post to discuss fitness/strength/Stamina/Endurance.

So I think in game your fitness should play a part, if you are a marathon runner and run 10-15k each day from one place to the next then you should be fitter then the sniper who lays in the bush all day before retreating 500m to his base, equally if you carry alot each day you should be stronger then someone who chooses to carry not much leaving more in their base (once base building comes into it)

I would like to see a visual difference, someone who carries alot and runs all the time will look like a Marine or something, where are someone who doesnt maybe looks more podgy, runs slower.... etc.

i think that would be a valid concept , im not a 100% sure but i think i did hear dean in a interview suggest something along these lines , i agree though that a player that runs alot should have better stamina than a sniper who just lays around alot waiting for a shot . The change of appearance of player would be far to hard to implement though now i would imagine

Yes this can be valid, but I think it could have serious drawbacks on the playerbase. Majority if those on this forum disagree with ultra-realism and in my opinion, this falls into that category.

Unless your Sniper looks like this AirsoftKid.JPG he can easily "outrun" your marathon runner. It's not like they paly bush all day eating donuts and drinking coffee...

Yeah, the speed of the character shouldn't be based on how active you are but on how much you are carrying around. Endurance would also be similar even if you can consider the fitness due to amount you run, how you feed yourself. These factors are a bit far fetched although I think the second might be implemented since the devs did talk about giving negative effects to drinking too many sodas.

Some of the ideas will always be beyond what is gpoing to make the game fun, I only ever want this game to be fun, if it is a true life simulation then you wouldnt want to play it because lets face it, how many DMR's or M4's are you going to find when rushing about, (Though I am from UK) Ultimately I think the fitness should just be a feature in that if you carry lots all the time you can sprint for longer or something like that.

Its important for players to feel rewarded for their actions, and its better to deter the sniper from sitting on a hill and looting your body because ultimately if they are rewarded then this is just an FPS MMO with some Z-NPC!
