DayZ And SLI Works, But Only While Overclocking?

I was having some fun in dayz when I noticed my GPU's were screaming at me. I have two 660ti's an ASUS and EVGA card both connected via SLI. Whenever I start my computer I always open up EVGA precision X to overclock both my GPU's clock speed up 125MHz each. I found that when I do not overclock both my GPU's and SLI is activated DayZ does not utilize my second SLI, but when both my GPU's are overclocked DayZ takes full advantage of my second GPU utilizing both my GPU's. Does anyone else have this happen to them? I am curious if maybe this is a possible way of getting SLI to work for everyone or I just got lucky.
