Rancho 5 Posted March 8, 2014 I know that with doors closed this is a way of knowing if someone was there already before you, or if you leave doors open someone could track you down so it would be better to close them. But in a zombie apocalipse, I don't think people is thinking in closing all the doors of their homes... Hundred of zombies running around, bandits, people running away screaming, etc... I think this should be random, some doors open, some closed, some destroyed (but this is just a matter of design). What do you think? We will have to play more carefully with this system. Sorry for my bad englishCheers
GoTo2k 12 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) I agree. Right now I use the doors as an indicator if people have been in the same area. Unfortunately, it feels very unnatural. If some of the doors were barricated, that would be plausible (in order to protect from the zombies). Actually, it would f***ing awesome if you could break into a barricated house and then you find some dead people lying on the floor... only that some of them are not really dead. Damn, that would be cool indeed! EDIT: With barricated windows as well so that it is quite dark inside EDIT No. 2: Actually, once the loot respawns, servers won't have to restart every 2-3 hours anymore. If there is only one restart every 24 hours, after some hours most doors will be open while there still is loot inside the buildings. VonHabdekeiten 38 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Interesting idea, since it does indeed feel unrealistic to have all the doors closed for every building. I actually use doors as a sign to others that there might be someone in there and scare them away, but having it randomized would have to keep you on alert each time you approach a building!Great suggestion! enforcer1975 1111 Posted March 8, 2014 I would be fine either way because i almost always put the door in it's original state when i leave in order to not leave any trace that somebody was there.
TEST_SUBJECT_83 465 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) This idea really wouldn't change anything, IMO.I always check buildings with the doors open. An open door means nothing in DayZ. People close doors behind them...I know I do.Not everybody needs the same things as you. Some people will just open a door and not go in.You never know what someone else missed. Hethwill_Khan 233 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Experimental did have the no doors reset ( not random mind you ) two patches ago. Was interesting. I actually enjoyed more. Edited March 8, 2014 by Hethwill_Khan
br4z1l 0 Posted March 8, 2014 Great IDEA! AGREED! We need random opened/closed doors.
Walking Wounded 199 Posted March 8, 2014 If I am in a high profile area I allways shut them behind me. Just leaving a prison cell at airstrip today and as I came down I noticed the doors open. I sat there for 30 seconds thinking ''did I shut it or did i forget' then a face appeared.... If al the doors are shut I know I can loot and its worth my time.. if al the doors are open generally unless im desperate looting is a waste of time.
djporternz 644 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) Look, Zombies are safety concious. They know most accidents happen in the home, so they are doing their civic best to keep you, the survivor, safe! Last thing you need is to go stumbling into a house on a 1PP night server and break your damn leg on an illplaced can of beans! We all owe them our gratitude for their unselfish love and care.... *hearts and flowers* Edited March 8, 2014 by DJPorterNZ
