candytripn 10 Posted March 7, 2014 ok.. just bought this game, and already I'm feeling lost. not with the game itself, but configuring it. Seems like there is some sort of reverse mouse acceleration on. If I rapidly look left, I barely move, but if I slowly look left.. I look quickly. I've tried disabling mouse smoothing, which doesn't disable, as well as adjusting all the sliders.. makes the game really hard to control. Is there a fix for this or some option I'm missing? damagefilter 34 Posted March 7, 2014 (edited) Nope. That is "by design" as it seems.Mouse acceleration is supposedly tied to some factors such as health of your character (I read that somewhere, not sure if that's actually true). You'll get used to it eventually but yes. It feels like steering a friggin tank sometimes. Edited March 7, 2014 by damagefilter

candytripn 10 Posted March 7, 2014 (edited) I can kind of understand the idea (if it is intended) being that.. the more you over-react, the less you react.. maybe something about "freaking out" about a situation (zombie) vs being calm.. but damn is it counter-intuitive.. I'll search for that tool. Thanks for the quick replies guys. I'm sure I'll get used to it if I have to, hell.. just the few videos I've seen have me drooling over this game! For now, I've dropped the sensitivity on both axis down to min, it sucks having no sensitivity, but I'm not noticing the acceleration now.. which is a net gain imho. rickenbacker 190 Posted March 7, 2014 The idea has nothing to do with over-reacting (well, apart from people over-reacting on the forums :)), but is rather an attempt to make your character in-game move at the speed a real human would move. But since we're used to inertialess head and body movements in normal shooters, this feels wrong.

candytripn 10 Posted March 7, 2014 ok.. I get the "how people should" move idea.. but I don't think reverse acceleration is the result of that. If I decide to whip my head hard left, I don't move slower than if I slowly move left. Regular acceleration maybe,, but not reverse. Dropping all sensitivty on the horizontal access works for me.. a little getting used to.. but works. Loving the game btw.

Try a different mouse. Someone I play with bought a new mouse and despite having his sensitivity almost all the way to the left, his sensitivity is super high. I think he's got a cheap logitech mouse so its not a high end gaming mouse. I have a shitty 14 dollar MSFT mouse and it works fine.
stfuad 6 Posted March 8, 2014 (edited) I've found setting the floatingZoneArea to something like .15 and mouseSensitivityX/Y ~ .5 offers the best balance between fast target aquisition and being able to swing around quickly without hitting the negative mouse acceleration threshold. Obviously results may vary depending on your windows mouse settings and your mouse DPI. Edited March 8, 2014 by stfuad

iMiTzi 0 Posted March 8, 2014 Hello! My mouse is really weird, when I go up with my mouse it is the normal speed but when I gonna turn axis X (to left and right) it is really slow. On the settings they are at the same speed. And on minecraft, CSS, CS:GO and other games I have like 300-600 fps but on this game I get like 30 fps on the lowest settings!?Which are the best settings and what is wrong with my mouse? mosibfu 71 Posted March 9, 2014 (edited) go into "my documents/Dayz" and edit yourname.DAYZPROFILE find mouseSmoothing=30;change it to mouseSmoothing=0;voila, more snappy mouse movement after saving, right click the file, properties, and set it to "read only" your welcome :) Edited March 9, 2014 by mosibfu
