If you get hit and are bleeding there should be a percentage change that zombies will spawn around you to murder you. IRL blood smells. And its a strong smell. This is the zombie apocalypse. Humanity is wiped out because something vicious and nasty killed EVERYONE. How would you avoid zombies? Just like you do now, Sneak, roll, hit them in the head with an axe from behind. They're no threat. However if you DO get hit and are bleeding then more should come to finish you off. This would add difficulty. ALSO it would add more interesting fights between bandits. If I want to go kill a bunch of people or kill someone with an axe, as I begin looting their corpse I have to now watch out for zombie spawns coming for the fresh kill. This game is called DayZ. Zombies should play an important aspect of the gameplay along with other players and base building, clans, heros and bandits, etc. Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
savini 587 Posted March 3, 2014 They're not sharks. I'm not a fan of super sensitive zombies. I prefer the plain old, regular shambling zombie. The fact that they run in Day Z always kinda irked me, but not so much that I won't play. Actually it doesn't really bother me too much that they run at all. Duenan 226 Posted March 3, 2014 I think Dean modeled his zombies of the 28dayslater zombies as the shambling zombies arent much of a threat in small numbers. They only work when theres 10,000 of them. daisho 74 Posted March 3, 2014 (edited) There is a suggestion that zombies will get attracted by gunshots (what makes much more sense to me as it would reduce the KoS-mentality) the way you suggested just it would protect the predator who attacked another player for whatever reason and would put the one who was getting shot at (if not dead yet) into a situation where he has no chance to get out alive. Might be a fun game though for some people to camp outside town with a high end sniper rifle/ scope, shoot people into the legs and then watch hordes of zombies charging them (as they most likely would be in a range where gunshots don't attract the zombies) /edit: typos Edited March 3, 2014 by daisho Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
blackberrygoo 1416 Posted March 3, 2014 I like the idea of this or gunshots attracting zombies but Im kind of leaning towards gunshots to attract zombies , as all kosers(even the bad aim ones ) would be challenged by that . cj14 189 Posted March 3, 2014 I'm all for this...sounds like a pretty good and logical idea. But they should not spawn near you, I think is best just to increase your detection radius to them. So you're easier to detect while bleeding. And in that case, zombies should be in larger numbers but slower...like in Resident Evil 1, 2 or 3...THEN we can talk about survival game :D Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

The infected should be drawn to itIRL blood doesn't have a strong smell at all. Fresh blood anyway... I believe sight and sound detenction are enough. The only problem with the mod was usually unless you were in Breaking point or something there wasn't enough zombies spawned to actually be a threat.
