DayZ is pixelated

Recommended Posts

Hello. I am having quite an issue with DayZ. I do not think it is a problem with the game, but just my computer. Everything from the "Bohemia Interactive" screen at load up to ingame is "pixelated". It's almost as bad as if it was an 8-bit game. The thing is, whenever i try to take a screenshot of it (Steam screenshot), it looks fine. I have tried with both a HD Radeon 6970 and a GeForce 670, with no different results. All my video drivers are up to date, and other drivers for that matter. I have tried re installing the game, but it did not change. I doubt ingame settings have anything to do with the issue, but nonetheless I have tried tweaking them god knows how many times.

Another clue that points toward my end is that even steam is pixelated while DayZ is open. All messages and popups from steam, and even Shift+Tab, are pixelated.

It's hard to provide a picture since screenshots look like they should, so I have attached a picture I took with my phone.

Note: My native screen resolution is 1920x1200, so that might have something to do with it. I have tried using the 1920x1080 setting ingame.

Thanks for any help at all.

I see a picture of the Steam overlay, not much to see there.

The BiS logo at the start is very pixelated for me, but the game is fine.

I'm pretty sure the Bohemia Logo is supposed to be Pixelated, but the rest should most absolutely not be like that, but I don't know how to fix it, sorry :/

I opened the steam overlay because i have the interface size ingame set to Very High, so I can atleast read the buttons. If you look at the steam overlay you will see, as Stryker says, it is not supposed to be like that.

Did you try different graphic drivers?

When I used the 6970, I used only the latest beta driver. In my current setup with the 670, I have tried both release drivers and beta drivers, result is the same.

Did you completely remove your Nvidia drivers when testing the 6970? I have heard that AMD and Nvidia drivers can conflict with one another... though I don't see how the same graphical bug would persist. Perhaps it is your HDMI/VGA cable? ...  but then, it should be happening even without playing a particular game... hmm.. iono man

Yes, when I switched from AMD to Nvidia it was a clean install of Windows. When I switched from Nvidia release to Nvidia beta i used DriverSweeper and cleaned known regkeys. I doubt it is my cable, but either a problem with my monitor (aspect rate 16:10, resolution 1920x1200) or my GFX and DayZ are not working correctly.

Bump. Playing in Windowed mode removes the pixelation, but I would very much like to play in fullscreen. Any ideas?
